I'm a bad comrade. I got realism on a lark because the article was looking like a style or genre, figured it was widespread in the Soviet Union, but didn't think to try the s-word even after trying communist, Marxist, etc.

My job is adjacent to the answer here but I've never heard of it. I kind of felt that it had something to do with encryption, which led me to the first word.

If the solution was plural, I guessed the singular. If the solution was singular, I guessed the plural. Either way, I guessed the wrong form and then faffed about some fifty guesses before thinking "oh shit I should guess the other form of the word"

totally wrong-footed by this one: thought it had to be a military ruler, *not* a monarch, and the thing about X-speaking countries in the opening paragraph had me thinking the wrong way around as well. also, my desire to keep a 100% score intact kept me from trying risky guesses and ones I was convinced were incorrect anyway, like cough… “monarch” and the country in question, which fit and had crossed my mind (including this particular leader). I could have just tried it, if only to rule it out, but no, had to keep that clean sheet. garbage tactics!

Weird one for me today, I thought it might be music related because the X/X had me thinking time signature, so I tried meter and it uncovered a lot of single M words, clearly as abbreviation for the unit of length, which sent me in a fruitless direction until I actually just entered music.

"A music video, sometimes abbreviated to M/V," ... wtf ... "is a video that integrates a song or an album with imagery" who wrote this shit? I spent ages wondering what let it be, this town ain't big enough for both of us, under pressure, like a virgin, and beat it have in common that could be abbreviated _/_ because music video sure as hell isn't.
