yeah, you'd think they'd be pretty similar for each team! i guess extra innings might change things, or if the mercy rule cut things short

The pitcher Canada brought in to replace him was brought on during the ad break, the commentary was in the middle of saying “…was about to give it all up to become a farmer.” When he gets the third out to end the half-hour top of the 1st, commenter says, triumphantly, “Not many farmers can run like that.” This is Madbum erasure you know!

Ok Canada had a home run and we missed it cos of the ad break! Sigh.

i haven't listened to too many smoltz-called games, but it struck me last night how wrong he often is. he kept saying throughout the game that the US basically had nothing to worry about, that they just needed to win their last two games, no need to panic. i kept thinking about the tie-breaker rules, which smoltz would describe as "an algorithm" or as some sort of mysterious advanced machine that was of no concern. dude, the tiebreaker is amount of runs allowed per inning played - getting your ass kicked by mexico was clearly a problem

tbf, beating Colombia by 8 runs doesn't feel unreasonable given the last few days worth of scoring!
also: don't dismiss the Canadian juggernaut!
