They got Chinese Spy Balloon to spin records? That guy's been around for ages.

INDEPENDENTS DAY BY STEVEN SPILBERG (President Keyes), Wednesday, 8 March 2023 19:03 (one year ago) link

I am not really comfortable with how much that poster amuses me.

not too strange just bad audio (brimstead), Wednesday, 8 March 2023 19:20 (one year ago) link

two weeks pass...

imagine going back to 1993 and telling Suede that in 30 years they'd be joint headlining a festival with John Major

The KITE 2023 line up so far.

Which sessions will you be attending? Where will you be dancing when the sun sets?

Festivals of ideas must be stopped.

"Polly Toynbee & Darren McGarvey"

the cannon & ball "odd couple" of centre-left political debate, brought in to shake things up a bit. They finish the set with a storming rendition of "together we'll be ok".

Just giving fodder to hecklers, this festival

Got to imagine the folks running Wilderness were utterly raging when that fest launched last year. Same utterly middle class "early 40 somethings with their posh kids" vibe, same sort of lineup mix, same demographic, very similar graphic design...

Hmmmmm (jamiesummerz), Saturday, 25 March 2023 18:10 (one year ago) link

three months pass...

an event and not a festival but wow this is lit

We're thrilled to share the all-star lineup for A Capitol Fourth! Don't miss the live broadcast on PBS at 8/7c, Tuesday, July 4th.

props to the post-post-post-ironic youngster who put this together for them but this sounds like the worst thing

some of the 4th-tier britpop nostalgia fests on this thread probably have more ideological diversity

Can't believe they don't have any California dates!

Kite Festival is absolutely bizarre

Stomp Jomperson (dog latin), Monday, 3 July 2023 18:39 (nine months ago) link

Probably a competition clause in effect, which means Biden is probably headlining Coachella and Lolla next year.

Joechella

Kamalapalooza

I've actually seen several folks on that bill, including Emhoff, in a club setting. You gotta catch em on the way up...

I was there when Joe Biden started up his first campaign.
I told him, "Don't do it that way, Jack. You'll never make a dime."
I was there.

https://trnsmtfest.com/line-up

I live close enough to this that I can hear it, but not close enough that I can hear it clearly. Just a sludge of middling indie music in the background all day.

boxedjoy, Saturday, 8 July 2023 12:11 (nine months ago) link

Just knew this thread bump would be for Trnsmt.

I went for Radiohead the first year and they were great, but the experience of the festival was predictably pretty horrible. I would have liked to see Pulp, but not enough to try again.

brain (krakow), Saturday, 8 July 2023 12:46 (nine months ago) link

One of the most heterosexual lineups ever made

sean paul akerman (Whiney G. Weingarten), Saturday, 8 July 2023 12:54 (nine months ago) link

The only acts I’m familiar with in that lineup are Pulp and the 1975

Could not name a single song from anyone playing on Saturday

Murgatroid, Saturday, 8 July 2023 12:59 (nine months ago) link

these bands do not exist

calzino, Saturday, 8 July 2023 13:18 (nine months ago) link

The atmosphere looks firmly like a festival I would not enjoy, the line-up has no appeal for me, and being in Glasgow while it is on feels actively unpleasant. But I think it's just an age thing - I'm really happy that this happens in the city, on the doorstep, and we don't have to exile people to a country park in Lochnowhere for something like this. I'm all for the eighteen year olds getting tanked up on cheap cider and living their best student anthems life, we all had to do it!

boxedjoy, Saturday, 8 July 2023 14:19 (nine months ago) link

smh trying to pad their lineup with acts who don’t actually exist like “Bob Vylan” and “Boys”

Murgatroid, Saturday, 8 July 2023 15:38 (nine months ago) link

uh Bob Vylan exist and are brilliant
