The Trainspotting soundtracks are two soundtrack albums released following the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name.

The first album was released in February 1996 in the UK and 9 July 1996 in the US. The comparatively huge fanbase for both the film and the original soundtrack prompted a release of a second soundtrack on 21 October 1997. This second album included songs from the film that didn't make the cut for the first album, as well as songs that didn't appear in the final film, but were involved at earlier stages or were used as inspiration by the filmmakers, and one duplicate song.

oh there were many of these hiphop/r+b instances. i was just posting about outkast's contribution to the nothing to lose album. "high school high" was always a big favorite for me and yeah: not a great film and one of those instances where it almost felt like the film was created to promote the soundtrack. with so much `90s revival` talk, how has the "bohemian rhapsody" cover not gotten a second life?

The Clueless soundtrack is mentioned several times ITT, but worth noting that it went platinum and had three(?) original singles… two of which were (good) covers of ‘70s/‘80s songs, and one of which was Jill Sobule’s “Supermodel.” I think the acoustic Radiohead song may also be exclusive, but not sure.

Apparently the head of Capitol let them put No Doubt’s “Just a Girl” in the movie, but not on the soundtrack… that song, and the band, blew up a few months later.
