I seem to reveal that an earlier draft of "All Good Things" where the old TNG crew steal the Enterprise to go on Picard's mission but the writers dropped it for being a dopey idea, too bad Q is dead now or else he could've sent someone in time to persuade this show's writers from making the same mistake.

Every time Frakes reappears in a "hey the gangs all here" reunion type ep he always has this "hey wow this is great!" shit eating grin that I find really offputting. I dunno if he's had work or something? But his eyebrows are weird now.

I thought I'd enjoyed this episode til you bunch of cynical fucks pooed all over it, so thanks for that everyone :)

Look tbf some of those issues I agree with. Why can't he just commisssion a non-Federation ship? If its so important they dont involve starfleet why is Seven the first place he went? (well, we know why - so she can be in the show again).

That Titan captain was an utter cunt, but hey Ive worked with people like that so it didn't ring false to me.

Well THAT was a lot today. As well as having a couple of “you can’t call it foreshadowing when it was all right there” key points.

I think they just barely squeaked out the right amount of gravitas in order to sell that wordless interaction at the end of ep3

Kind of an odd juxtaposition with the Raffi plotline that seems to be verbal exposition dump after exposition dump. I’m also having some suspicions about who her anonymous intelligence handler is on the other end of the line

For some reason I didn't read that as her handler coming in for the rescue, but the dialogue does line up. For some reason I read that as certain character being her backup that she'd maybe arranged, but that makes less sense!

Looking forward to future episodes where Raffi can interact with other characters. Carrying those scenes on her own has been rough to watch.

Can someone explain why Picard decided Jack was his son? I had the same thoght as H - is the accent hereditary? Was it just a "oh, hes a rougue like I was in my youth, weeping in butchers shops"? I guess he couldve done the maths and figured out the last time he was with Bev?

A building that massive is destroyed in one foul swoop and only 117 ppl are killed? Seems like a spot where thered be hundreds of people?

why would a close associate presumably have sex with you and then disappear and not talk to you for twenty years? I mean, that happens to me but we’re talking about Picard in this thread

iirc one of the threads in the TNG series finale had picard and crusher getting married and divorced . . . but the resolution meant that that never actually happened, right?

the funniest thing they could do but never would, because it’s bad fanfic, is Beverly used Shinzon dna to artificially make a son. and he comes out as mini-Tom Hardy

Insurrection was the TNG movie that I flat-out didn’t like, but it did bring up the idea that factions within the Federation were up to some shady shit. The execution was just insanely corny.

Insurrection was not well-executed but introduced actual changes in the status quo (Troi and Riker get married, Riker leaves to command his own ship at the end, Data’s dead) and the Picard writers have been leaning on those plot points

Obviously I meant to type Nemesis at the beginning of that second paragraph oops

I miss when Starfleet wasn't filled with incompetent functionaries.

I rewatched the movies in the last couple of weeks.

None of them were great but Insurrection was particularly bad. Felt like it should have just been a two parter of TNG rather than a movie that had an actual theatrical release.

I did like the Ferengi, just the right level of scenery chewing without falling into cliche or racist caricature.

the ferengi facial prosthetic change could have used more ridges, but was otherwise a great update!

so far, raffi plot thread very similar to the stinky discovery s1 finale.

Agreed on the Ferengi! The one thing I found off about DS9 was Quark and co. I know thats the whole idea, but the sexist money grubbing comedy gurning was offputting for me. Esp Wallace Shawn's Grand Nagus, it felt like he was playing it for laughs.

This guy had genuine mercenary malice, I liked it.

I hated the Quark episodes when I was a kid but have been enjoying them on the rewatch. In a way perhaps Quark is the most relatable adult on the show? And maybe my sense of humour has gotten broader in middle age

The Grand Nagus was meant to be extremely offputting imo
