Who is the oldest person regularly posting on ILX?

Born in 1974, showed up here in 2002 or 03. Weird to think I could have relived my entire life from birth to college in the same amount of time I've been Johnny Fever.

I'll turn 60 this year. Been here roughly 1/3 of my life.

I first joined in the fall of '02 I think. So about 40 percent of my life at this point. If I'm still an ilxor in 2035, it'll be half my life.

And I will be bumping this thread to mark the occasion, I'm sure. (Hi, senior citizen me!)

that's just queer time. personally, as a queer woman, i measure my age in terms of the lyrics to the boards of canada song "aquarius", which means i'm seventy-four this year. i'm looking forward to turning sixty-seven in a couple months.

i was just writing about the "me generation" on my blog the other day, my take is that wolfe was observing a genuine phenomenon but that part of being queer is being, you know, not like the others. i also think that calling narcissism a _generational_ phenomenon is overstating it a little. my mom is definitely a woman of her generation, but she's also her mother's daughter, you know?

There is highly embarrassing evidence of my teenage presence here dating back to '03 (e.g. my first post was to ask Momus to rate my livejournal) well over half a lifetime for me and I am so grateful that this place still exists and looks exactly the same, ilx is so good thank you to everyone involved

We did "how old are you" polls on the same day in January in 2008, 2011, and 2016. Each time the median age corresponded to a 1979 (or very early 1980) birthday. It would be interesting if the median age has increased since then.

I was hatched in 1968. Gratifying to know that I’m on the old person spectrum. I assume that the 1955 cohort are the oldest people here, with all due respect (?)

i know this is veering off-topic but somehow i think i've been here longer than some of the old schoolers. i always think of myself as showing up around 2005 and then being ignored for a few years (ilx tradition), but my first ilx post was Aug 2003

i think we actually lost a fair number of younger posters who aged out to social media and hung on to a bunch of people who use ilx as social media

my stats are the same as dan peterson's. if i had logged on earlier i might have posted that same song.

I think forks is otm and also of course old-school message board format is not exactly calling out to anyone much under 40 I wouldn't think. (I love old-school message board format, don't get me wrong.)

I like the expression "long in the tooth". It is an acknowledgement that we all clench our teeth when we sleep, driving our upper teeth into the maxilla where bone is resorbed, and with it our upper gums recede over time

I have been wearing a night guard to arrest this, it is uncomfortable and creates too much saliva, and I've only been able to wear it when I wake up around midnight and am mostly asleep so can put it in

I think I misread this and thought I was supposed to guess the earliest year. That means there should be one less vote for 1960 (I think) and one more for 1975.

I was hoping this poll would allow me to pass along the moniker of 'oldest known ilxor', but until somebody steps up to claim one of those birth years before 1954 I guess I'm stuck. And considering the many disparaging comments about old people I've read here over the decades, this title doesn't feel much like a position of honor.

With a November birthday, it'll be awfully late in 2024 before I hit 70. And if I'm the whole show until Dan S shows up, then there's no reason to rush it.
