have to say that the example tikktok you linked last month is not exactly bowling me over as a performance or piece of meme-ography.

it’s like the Macarena of TikTok challenges

i don't like the sped up version either but yeah good for him

oh good he's working on a new album: https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/music/miguel-sure-thing-viral-tiktok-new-album-grammy-b1059258.html

since it started taking off again i've been hoping he'd take a stab at a mainstream comeback that isn't like an edm trifle (i kinda liked the one w/ diplo but yeah)

Hopefully new album will be out soon. Yep agree with y’all re tik tok “Sure Thing “ ‘s being unimpressive but nice for getting song and hopefully him back.
Saw another article that back in 2010 or so “Sure Thing “ almost got given to Usher, but then record exec decided he liked Miguel’s version and signed him .

One other item -
Read that his wife filed for divorce last year.

three months pass...

More than 12 years after its release, Miguel hits #1 at Top 40 radio with “Sure Thing.” Released in 2010 as the second single from his debut album, All I Want Is You, the song resurged in 2022 thanks to newfound attention on TikTok. With over 1.2B streams, the track also recently broke record for most weeks in Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop song chart. This is Miguel’s first #1 at Top 40 radio and evidence that his sound is both classic and innovative.
