You're close. those county lines mostly going across the top of the mountains, dividing one side of the mountain from the other.

if you zoom in on the texas-oklahoma border it would be so much simpler if the river decided the boundary, but no, there are all these weird little loops and oxbows that make everything confusing

that's the problem with using rivers as borders, the red river has changed course over the past century or but the border technically remains the same

i wonder if anyone being charged for a crime involving an illegal crossing of a river state border has ever used the "No one ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same person" defense

level 54 I think, based on what I remember of travelling across the states 30 years ago, plus a couple of other trips.

I'm at 96, overwhelmingly from coastal visits/stays. I've only ever lived in two states: Missouri and Virginia.

Level 129, although tbh I'm not sure of the difference between "Visited Here" and "Stayed Here." There are only a handful of states I haven't at least passed through, mainly West Virginia and most of New England.

Yeah, that was pretty much how I applied it, although if it was like one night crashing with friends I usually put "visited." I camped in NC one night, put "visited."

The whole "visited here / stayed here" thing threw me off too. I "stayed" in a motel room in Ohio once before continuing the drive into Kentucky the next day while I have "visited" Georgia, spending most of a day touring the Coca-Cola and Carter museums in Atlanta. Should Ohio be worth more points? I finally decided no.

Poor Maryland and Delaware the only states where I don't think my feet ever touched the ground. They're very easy to drive through.
