I’ve been hoping/waiting for a Metroid Prime port for years, as it’s probably my favorite game of all time.
Even bought a used Gamecube a while back to play it again, but it looks like ass on a modern tv so I haven’t returned to it much. Got the remaster as soon as I heard about it. So weird that it’s finally here.

Anyway it looks great. Controls are ridiculously smooth.

Speaking as somebody who never played the original, or any of the other Primes, this game rules. It's astonishing how well they captured the feeling of Metroid in three-dimensional space. I think I might even like it more than 2D Metroid. I love those games, but I've never found them difficult to put down. Whereas this, I'm having a very hard time putting down.

Actually, that's not true: I was pretty well obsessed with Dread until I hit a wall with a boss that was just Too Dang Hard

yeah its genuinely just as good and iconic a 3d transition as mario 64 and ocarina were

iirc it's the only 1st person shooting game I've played where the jumping doesn't feel clunky and unnecessary. of course it's probably the most recent one I've actually played lol

Fills my heart to see people loving it today as much as I did back when it came out. I remember it being the game that finally made me breakdown and get a GameCube. Hope Part 3 does get a remaster, I missed out on that one.

I would have loved that, honestly. I know that the existing soundtrack is well-loved, but to my ears, it's just OK

Been replaying Minish Cap, enjoying it heaps. Even dipping into some silly things like Warioware and Game & Watch Donkey Kong.

about 12 hours into Fire Emblem Engage, really enjoying it.
battles are tactical again and a good challenge, just enough story, plenty of optional stuff to mess around with if you want to min/max your builds but also ignorable if not, even the mini gacha mechanic is well thought out and unobtrusive. probably going to sell less due to seemingly ditching the waifu aspect, but for my tastes easily the best FE since Awakening. the main characters design never stops looking derpy though.

I've been having the same feeling, I'm hip-deep in the Phazon Mines, but I'm determined to power through it

phazon mines was the biggest speed bump in the game from what i recall its pretty far along though

think im pretty close to the end im on the omega pirate but i know theres gotta be a bunch of those artifacts ive missed and various energy tanks missiles and so forth too, i could look up where they are and run around getting them but it doesnt sound that good

plus the way u have to kill this pirate just isnt normal i looked it up and i dont appreciate it

must murder them with the driest and brightest st anger drum sound

These rumors have been rumoring since like 2019, at this point I’d bet that the next thing will be launching somewhere March-June of 2024 and cost $400

I've started playing BOTW again to train for part 2. I am determined to complete the master sword trials! That's the only thing I never got around to doing.

I think I only managed to complete 7 or 8 levels of the master sword trials. Lots of fun but too difficult for me.

I really want a Switch to complement my PS5 - there are some games like Hades, Octopath Traveller etc I'm really keen to play but just don't think work so great on a big OLED telly. But Switch doesn't seem to be going down in price. Even s/h ones are selling for a good £200-£300

it probably won't go down in price until a successor is announced, doing too well still

their "price cut" options are the original Switch and the mini - but if you're getting a new one one now you might as well pay a bit more and spring for the OLED version

I used it in handheld mode far, far less than I expected. It was great iirc for grindy stuff like Hollow Knight and Breath of the Wild, but in the end I prefer playing games on the TV, even those games, especially with the pro controller. I outright dislike the Switch's little joy-cons.

Yeah I'd be tempted to get a Switch Lite and save myself a bunch of money, but it's nice to have the option to plug it in to my nice TV

i definitely wish i had the oled one, one of the most worthwhile upgrades imo

i have a lite bought it on a whim im not really "a gamer" but its good, will prob get a nicer one of the next gen tho

also im gonna be the zelda TOTK skeptic i think it looks un-hype from what theyve showed so far. i don't see the hook yet

i think theyre just being coy and its gonna be crazy

no ones making games like the n64/gamecube zeldas (and no ones ever quite been able to replicate the experience of the dungeons in those games) whereas everyones making games like botw now it's a much easier design to copy. so i need stronger rationale for every new game that they make in that direction
