Where’s your fucking expose on this, Taibbi? (Are they still doing those? I got bored after the first thread.)
At House hearing now, Twitter attorney testified that they were told the Trump WH demanded Twitter take down this tweet from @chrissyteigen in 2019. Twitter didn't. (She responded to a Trump tweet calling her "filthy- mouthed".) https://t.co/c0ivCEo0Oy— Lisa Desjardins (@LisaDNews) February 8, 2023

The only thing they really uncovered was that the FBI was spending a lot of its time reporting satirical tweets to Twitter. But that stuff was buried under so much other junk it never made any impact.

This new "if you pay, you can post 4000-character tweets" thing is just mind-bogglingly stupid. Like, how much would you be willing to pay to demonstrate your fundamental misunderstanding of the platform you're on?

All going great over there!
The San Francisco headquarters, whose landlord has sued Twitter for nonpayment of rent, has a melancholy air. When people pass each other in the halls, we’re told that the standard greeting is “where are you interviewing?” and “where do you have offers?” The eighth floor is still stocked with beds, and employees have to reserve them in advance. “Most weeknights, they are fully booked,” another current employee said. The perks that made Twitter an attractive place to work pre-Musk have been eradicated. Food at the office? “Sucks — and now we have to pay for it. And, I know this sounds petty, but they appear to have obtained the absolute worst coffee vendors on earth.”

I maybe mentioned way upthread but I was in the headquarters once pre-pandemic for a small gathering (perhaps an awards ceremony?) of local tech groups working in outreach to those without access and the like -- met and chatted with Brewster Kahle for a bit, that was kinda fun -- and it was a pretty cozy setup in the meeting area we were at some floors up: well stocked bar, comfy seats inside and out, good vibes. My guess is the place is completely rotted and dusty at best now.
