Leslie manufactured the speaker to work with other organs besides Hammond, including Wurlitzer, Conn, Thomas and Baldwin.[6] He never particularly liked Hammond organs, once remarking "I hate those damn things."[7]

Perhaps but relevant context in the previous paragraph

By 1940, Leslie decided his prototype was ready to market, and went to the Hammond Organ Company to demonstrate it. Laurens Hammond, however, was not impressed with Leslie's attempt to better his own organ design, and declined to market it.[4] The company even changed the speaker interface on their organs to make them "Leslie-proof," though Leslie quickly worked around this.

"The chain has had numerous New York City competitors that adopted its mix of hot dogs and tropical fruit drinks, including Gray's Papaya, Papaya Dog, Papaya Heaven, Papaya Paradise, and Papaya Place. In 1976, Nathan's Famous set up shop next door to Papaya King, and a "hot dog war" ensued. Nathan's cut the price of its hot dogs from 50 to 35 cents, while Papaya King sold its hotdogs for a quarter. Six months later, Nathan's capitulated and left the block."

Kelly Jones described the album, with its "very 70s, Stevie Wonder, rock overdub feel", as the fulfillment of his desire to make an album like his favourite soul music: "I was really into soul music - it's not something I'm ashamed about. I was brought up on Stevie Wonder and I love Talking Book and all the overdubs on it, and all that freestyling Marvin Gaye thing. I'd always wanted to make a record like that, and this was the first one I produced so that's probably why I went 'Fuck it I'm just going to do it'."[8

Right before the court case, Nurmi's lawyer, abruptly quit the case without giving a reason, keeping all evidence and case paperwork that had been collected and prepared. With no way to get to the court house in downtown Los Angeles from Hollywood (Nurmi did not drive and her lawyer was to supply transportation to court), Nurmi was unable to make it to the courthouse on time. The judge in the case had no other recourse than to issue a default judgment in favor of Peterson and the producers. So, though urban legend has been perpetuated over the years that it was only about the color of a dress, a wig, and a similar shtick, the case was more specific.

Franke and the Knockouts was an American pop rock band, formed in New Jersey, United States, and fronted by singer/songwriter Franke Previte.

released their self-titled debut album in 1981, scoring a top ten hit with "Sweetheart", co-written by Previte and Elworthy.

Shortly after the album's release later in 1982, future Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres came on board to officially fill LeHenaff's spot on the kit.

Several years before the break up, the group also wrote and released the original versions of Eric Carmen's 1987 hit single "Hungry Eyes" as well as the song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life", (both of which were featured in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing). This material earned Previte an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

During her heyday as a porn actress, around 1975, True was hired by a real estate business in Jamaica to appear in their commercials. While she was working there, the Jamaican government banned asset transfers in response to sanctions imposed by the U.S. after the election of Michael Manley, a supporter of Fidel Castro. In order to return to the U.S., True would have had to either forfeit her pay or spend the money before she went home. True, who by this time was trying to break into the music industry, chose to invest the money in recording a demo of "More, More, More"

Usually invoking threat of excommunication, or anathema, the more creative and dramatic detail the better. Generally located in the first or last page of a volume as part of the colophon, these curses were often considered the only defense in protection of highly coveted books and manuscripts. This was notably a time in which people believed in curses, which was critical to its effect, thus believing that, if a person stole or ripped out a page, they were destined to die an agonizing death.

On the BBC program I'm in a Girl Group, Hoffs revealed she actually sang the studio recording of the song completely naked after Sigerson pranked her by telling her Olivia Newton-John recorded unclad (a falsehood Sigerson eventually admitted to).[10] "I imagined it would feel like skinny dipping—vulnerable yet freeing – and I decided to try it", she remembered in 2021. Nobody could see me; there was a baffle in front of me and it was dark." She liked the experience enough to sing all her vocals on the album that way.[2]

Possessed's association with Debbie Abono would be a "first" for both sides: Abono would be the band's first manager, and Possessed were Abono's first managed signed band. A grandmother in her mid-fifties at that time,[44][45] Abono had no previous connection to heavy metal music other than as a concert designated driver for her daughters, one of whom was a girlfriend of guitarist Larry LaLonde.[45] Due to generation gap, Abono also had limited awareness of the sometimes blasphemous themes of heavy metal, and was allegedly offended upon reading the lyric sheet of Seven Churches.[35]
