I am hoping to listen to more punk rock this year, and I'm going to try to post to this thread regularly. Join me if you'd like!

First up, the new album from CIVIC from Melbourne, Australia, where each of the 5 million residents lead a punk band, it seems.

CIVIC has jumped to big (and pretty good) American indie label ATO Records, which is also home to Amyl & the Sniffers.

Civic is a great band, I love New Vietnam. Punk hasn't been v popular on ilm the last few years, seems like most of the people who are into this stuff just quit posting

I will try to post here from time to time, as my girlfriend listens to a ton of new punk/weirdo rock and so I am more tuned into this stuff than I have been for a long time, though I will try to be respectful of the fact that I have not been historically a participant here, so may float a thing out here and there that may not be of interest. I do like that Sniffany and the Nits record quite a bit. Most probably know this but since The Tubs record is getting a lot of attention it is worth noting that at least one of them plays on the Sniffany and the Nits record too.

I am a fan of Marbled Eye, will have to check out Public Interest.

I will put up something from a band I got to see live recently and really liked. Not gonna try to explain it too much, guess it is hardcore leaning punk rock but kind of swings and leans rock a bit more than some. At times the guitars give me a bit of a Monorchid feel for some reason, but yeah I dig this. From Richmond. In particular the song "Great Closing Sleep" rules in my opinion.

I liked that last record but don't really know any of their previous stuff. Apparently they've blown up pretty big?

Hattiesburg seemingly has a pretty great punk/hardcore community. Just saw Judy and the Jerks a couple of months ago and it ripped! MSPAINT very different but seem cool, enjoying it after a couple of tracks.

I know this is not exactly new, but it is new to me (still making my way through recommendations from lists last year, pretty sure this came for the Sorry State Records employee lists). Just a really good blast of straightforward guitar driven punk from Australia. Band is Split System. Put my favorite song up which will pretty much tell you whether you would wanna listen to more (apologies if this was covered last year, came out towards the end of the year though).

Really like this new Collate record. I was a fan already but a new full length was really welcome as I just had a 7" in house. Very economical and specific in sound, but I think they do it very well:

I got a huge haul in from La Vida Es Un Mus this week and can confirm that Sial - Sangkar 7" sounds even better on vinyl and is an absolute banger of a record.

I saw Alien Nosejob a few months ago but I looked them up and they are from NSW. possibly that law exists across states

I am from Sydney and I perceive Alien Nosejob to be Melbonic but perhaps they are somewhere geographically in-between

Civic were great tonight, I bought the New Vietnam + Singles LP and Future Forecast both of which are absolute banger punk records

the support were also apparently from Melbourne although confusingly they were called These New South Whales, they were good too. seems like Melbourne has a pretty thriving punk scene, maybe I'll get over my fear of spiders and go to Australia one day

I was feeling a bit glum earlier so I went out to see GBH and the Varukers tonight. I hadn't seen GBH for about 8 years but they still sound exactly the same, which is quite impressive for a bunch of blokes in their 60s tbf. Colin is so tiny. I guess that's why they went for the great big haircuts back in the day.

Saw Home Front twice last year. Bought Games of Power a couple of weeks ago but haven't played it yet, I already had mp3s of it though

I am posting because I saw that the Freeze are playing at Rebellion festival this year. I probably won't go to Rebellion festival but this might mean they play a London gig around that weekend. they might not, the thing with US bands playing London gigs around Rebellion festival is that they are always absolutely dead, because most of the people that would go to them are at Rebellion festival. I once saw Channel 3 play to the support band, me and maybe 3 other people at the Dublin Castle. when the Freeze last came over (about 14 years ago I think) I saw them at the Camden Underworld and they cordoned off the main bar because there weren't enough people to open the bar.

Anyway, I love the Freeze, and I hope I get to see them again

I did play my Home Front LP btw. it's obv v derivative and you can play spot the influence esp that Suicide one lol. but they pretty much nail it and they are fun live so I can dig it.
