the last time i went to the old blue last was when anna-marie was djing, she was playing ace stuff but that pub HAS SO MANY CUNTS IN IT. which is my objection, really.

i forgot to book tuesday off and have a morning meeting :(

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 13 April 2006 13:07 (eighteen years ago) link

that sucks. its my birthday monday. so its straight to golf from minus, then back to t-bar. which is going to be a bit of a change of pace.

rchinn (rchinn), Thursday, 13 April 2006 13:29 (eighteen years ago) link

braxe sounds good! alternatively i would be psyched to just grab a drink with you guys and see everybody again. i won't be in london long -- just on a stopover before i go to berlin later that week.

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 13 April 2006 13:37 (eighteen years ago) link

OMG! Actual golf raver!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 13 April 2006 13:45 (eighteen years ago) link

I am well up for Braxe. French mentalism ahoy!

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 13 April 2006 14:49 (eighteen years ago) link

(Dude!)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:04 (eighteen years ago) link

it's braxe's worldwide debut apparently--he's never played out before. i am psyched.

(dude!)

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:08 (eighteen years ago) link

At least there be drinks before the house.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:22 (eighteen years ago) link

least let there

Gheys be hatin' on cunts - inevitable.

BARMS, Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:24 (eighteen years ago) link

hmm im excited about braxe for some reason. is braxe "crydamoure presents Waves I and II" in club form?

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:26 (eighteen years ago) link

Dunno 'bout his DJing (thought some of you would bug to the mix CD he did for DJ Mag with Justin Robertson, which I'm not that keen on tracklist-wise) but CB is so not awful, kid.

BARMS, Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:35 (eighteen years ago) link

Are there still tickets for Richie Hawtin??

Tommy Tannoy (Tommy Tannoy), Friday, 14 April 2006 23:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Looks like you can buy tickets for Lost here.

Old Blue Last was good. Only got down there around 10pm. They had started at 10am :|

Prins Thomas played at 12 and had to bail to catch a flight. Music was really good with nu-wave downstairs and italo upstairs. A few messy people though.

Looking forward to hearing Krack again tomorrow night.

rchinn (rchinn), Friday, 14 April 2006 23:30 (eighteen years ago) link

ok fuck it i spent the night in camden, at some shit, im off to buy a lost ticket

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 14 April 2006 23:39 (eighteen years ago) link

hearthrob (live) + gaiser (live). yes.

rchinn (rchinn), Saturday, 15 April 2006 07:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Same night as the Issst with Braxe, but upstairs...

And did we mention Our Disco Parisian Invasion:

Justice (Ed Banger)
Mr Oizo (F Comm)
Feadz (Bpitch)
Busy P (Ed Banger)
Sebastian (Ed Banger)
Kavinsky
Our Disco residents
Special live guest

Saturday 6th May @ Canvas, £8 in advance from ticketweb, £10 on the door

MattR (MattR), Saturday, 15 April 2006 08:29 (eighteen years ago) link

THE WHOLE OF PARIS is in one yard in King's Cross on 6th May! That's got to be some afterparty. Braxe and friends looks better than that lot though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 15 April 2006 09:01 (eighteen years ago) link

Our Disco parts looks great. Special live guest Uffie?

rchinn (rchinn), Saturday, 15 April 2006 09:33 (eighteen years ago) link

wait......do you think tickets are necessary for Lost?
i had assumed i could just come in a bit early.... is that erroneous?

the key is demonstrably the worst club in london, or the worst one i have been too. jeff samuel was really good but it was like i was clubbing in watford. also, far too expensive. i dont mind expensive as long as i dont feel like cattle and the club is glamourous to back it up. canvas feels worth it, the key is pretty foul.

ambrose (ambrose), Saturday, 15 April 2006 10:04 (eighteen years ago) link

OK, I probably may not be out tonight, but I will visit 93 Feet East on Monday if I can (my dad's in town for Easter).

Hal! Jordan! HAL! JORDAN! (Barima), Saturday, 15 April 2006 12:36 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't think I have ever been to the Key, but that line-up makes it worth all that, I think.

What is the name of that tiny club that's actually a converted underground public toilet on Commercial Street? It's fantastic! We stumbled in there last night intrigued by the neon-lit bus-shelter entrance and the enormous bassline coming through the floor.

Walked in for free and Tomas Andersson's Copy Cat was just kicking in. For the next two hours it was amazing - people went mental to the last minute of Silent Shout and I finally got to hear Dextro's Do You Need Help out. And at least five absolute stormers I will be desperate to identify for the next few weeks. Sometimes, the bright lights and cute girls turn up when you least expect them :)

I don't ever want this thread to end. I want it go on, as an ever-present reminder of the good times.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 16 April 2006 13:50 (eighteen years ago) link

public life

we used to do a night there! the old owner had a crazy plan to create and overground Underground, with stations with bikes in and cycle routes following the underground routes painted the same colours. it was dead easy to put nights on, and gareth djed once!

ambrose (ambrose), Sunday, 16 April 2006 13:52 (eighteen years ago) link

public life is good. chances are you probably went to a kubicle party with Tony D or Hector DJ'ing. good stuff. is probably the best afterhours going.

rchinn (rchinn), Sunday, 16 April 2006 15:26 (eighteen years ago) link

Dude. Lost was ACE.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 17 April 2006 13:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Lost was good. Not quite the usual lost sound, but that's a good thing in my book. Really good sets by all. Didn't get to hear Troy, but Gaiser was really strong, Magda playing her usual quality industrious building sound, Hearthrob had two huge tunes (Baby Kate, and that one at the end), Richie was strong, but we bailed at 7am, with him only one hour in. Off to T-Bar now to catch the last of it.

rchinn (rchinn), Monday, 17 April 2006 19:47 (eighteen years ago) link

shit.....

well i was way too fucked... this wasnt a good dance music weekend really

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 17 April 2006 20:26 (eighteen years ago) link

oh, we just got back from t-bar. its kind of good there

this weekend was rubbish, i missed everything

planned badly
position badly
executed badly
morientes

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 17 April 2006 23:31 (eighteen years ago) link

Didnt make it to T-Bar. Well we did, but there was a decent que, so went down to Sosho to catch Darshan Jesarni and the Laser Magnetic disco, which was kind of cool.

How many m_nus people played at T-Bar? How did Lazarus go playing after some of them?

rchinn (rchinn), Monday, 17 April 2006 23:50 (eighteen years ago) link

do you know, i messed up this weekend so bad? no amount of playing swat squad 12s or reminiscing about red planet stardancer can make up for how straight and sober this weekend turned out to be.

morientes

luckily, there is koze/superpitcher, and then braxe, to redeem self, and lower self into gutter, where i belong

is it wrong, to have a perverse feeling for a dr fernando rehabilitation?

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 17 April 2006 23:55 (eighteen years ago) link

perhaps indianapolis doesn't seem such a bad idea after all

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 17 April 2006 23:56 (eighteen years ago) link

i am experiencing some technical difficulties.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 07:29 (eighteen years ago) link

Errr... not dancing necessarily, but still clubbing, and I know that some of you are (becoming) regulars... Sonic Cathedrals this Thursday, 20th April. At the Legion, Old Street, same shoetime, same shoechannel.

Come on, you know you want to.

Bernard's Summer Girlfriend (kate), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 08:23 (eighteen years ago) link

hey kate i saw the listing for this in time out but didnt make the connection!

as for G, i wouldnt stress over it! its a bit of a relief for one weekend at least to have not been too hectic. theres lots to come for a start. im think about braxem, thanks for the reminder, i couldnt remember what was on may 6th....

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 08:55 (eighteen years ago) link

Aaah, what a time to wake up and realise the sun is shining and there's a week of no work ahead :)

T-Bar looked good yeah, we stayed for a drink but I have no idea who was playing or what any of the music was. Everyone looked like they were nicely off their face, especially for a Monday night.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 09:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Was T-Bar after I left? Having Lex's girlfriends beg me to do the splits again was way demanding. I can talk a little better today, so at least there's that.

BARMS, Tuesday, 18 April 2006 09:11 (eighteen years ago) link

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 23 April 2006 12:33 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, he wasn't as good as he was the couple of times I saw him last year. Still fun though. And that last half hour of Slam in room 2 was mental.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 23 April 2006 12:40 (seventeen years ago) link

that song i tried to put in your phone was anja schneider's 'rancho relaxo', gareth! how was turnmills?

agree with ricky t, superpitcher not as great as he has been in the past but still good. that was a really relaxing rave!

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 24 April 2006 08:08 (seventeen years ago) link

turnmills was pretty good. we (a motley crue of waifs and strays) got there about 730, and went into the top bar bit, and got a pint. i think we had forgotten that there was a main room, so we tried to find it, and then we did. downstairs was split in two, there was horrible hardhouse in one room, and plip-plop in the other. we met some other people in there, i think some girl txted you with my phone lex?

they chucked everyone out just before noon, and we went up to a pub on farringdon road, the eagle, i think, and had a couple of pints in there. i think there were 7 of us left at this point. about 130pm two people left in search of some rave in docklands, i'd had enough by then and called it quits and got the bus home. went to bed about 3, literally holding my head in my hands. woke up at midnight, and ate a pear yoghurt:)

today i feel fine!

one of the people that got subsumed into our waif collective, is, i think, a friend of our own stirmonster, and our not own johnny.

i liked that rancho relaxo tune lex

the tune you asked about, with the big bursts of fuzzy static, was shane berry's fillertet (trapez). i think i said that above, but my typing appears to have been a little, uh, off

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 24 April 2006 14:18 (seventeen years ago) link

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 24 April 2006 14:20 (seventeen years ago) link

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 24 April 2006 14:28 (seventeen years ago) link

There's more hecticness next weekend with two nights at The Key -

Saturday: Acid Tiger Motel w/ Digitalism, Marc Romboy, Tommie Sunshine, Tomas Barfod, Munk & more
Sunday: Bugged Out vs Phonica w/ Gabriel Ananda, Andy Weatherall, Ewen Pearson, Clor, Simon Rigg, Heidi, Hector & more

Stumbled into Public Life friday night to find Gedde's and some others playing some ace stuff, picked up a bunch of flyers for Dub Kult and some other good stuff going on there in the next few weeks. If only I could find 'em the next morning...

MattR (MattR), Monday, 24 April 2006 15:22 (seventeen years ago) link

sunday looks good, but i said i'd go home this weekend. no, really, i did

braxe is definitely next, and i am going to get my ticket, this evening

i actually feel ridiculuously perky right now,
