the ugly irony of morals clauses being wielded by massive media conglomerates tho, damn. like on the one hand, any way to force concrete negative consequences on famous jerks when they're revealed to be sexually manipulative/aggressive is good since the legal system is 99% useless, and the threat of getting their bag snatched might be enough to make some of them think twice before propositioning teenagers over snapchat or whatever. but then on the other loathsome hand, [soul-destroying list of corporate malfeasance redacted].

I had only watched the first episode of this show before yesterday. My son had shown it to me when he was in middle school and I was thoroughly repulsed and never went back for more. For whatever reason, yesterday I decided to give it another chance and threw a few more episodes on. I'm still skeptical that I'll find much value in it, but my plan was to keep trying to engage. Then as soon as I flipped it off, I went to check the news and saw the news about his domestic violence.

Finished season 2 yesterday and I'm in no hurry to continue. I've seen enough to learn what people like about it, but have been overwhelmed by too many butts and pendulous testicular shapes to continue for now.

I knew about the Blonde Redhead song, but was surprised to hear it so early on in the series. However, the Tony! Toni! Tone! drop towards the end of season 2 blew my mind.

I don't think there was a bad season.

The example I gave was to illustrate how silly it was at times which is why objecting to his sophomoric ideas was silly (as opposed to some of the much more heinous shit he's been accused of)

I don’t know, Pickle Rick was very much a nadir for me

It had an overall great concept but was already getting into dimishing returns territory, putting aside the puerile shit like the abovementioned. There's only so much you can do with "ha ha we can just make up anything cos we broke the rules of physics" before it just starts getting confusing and repetitive.

there's infinite shit you can do if you have a bit of imagination but maybe you need to be less attached to your shitty characters and their unfunny dynamics

yea the first few episodes I watched of this show got me pretty excited but once you see a bad episode you kinda lose all enthusiasm for it. definitely some funny bits but there's very much a "dude staring at you while he plays his favorite Family Guy clips" vibe to it

when I discovered Xavier: Renegade Angel one of my first thoughts (outside of "what the fuck?") was "this is what Rick and Morty was trying to do"...feel like you can't just commit halfway to this sort of thing
