Space Is The Place obv.

A Drunk Man Looks At Partick Thistle (Tom D.), Friday, 20 January 2023 10:19 (one year ago) link

my least fave Kubrick vs a Sun Ra movie. I'll just pretend I've seen the latter for the sake of voting against the odyssey into tedium!

calzino, Friday, 20 January 2023 10:38 (one year ago) link

Worth it for the scene where he materializes in the youth club alone.

A Drunk Man Looks At Partick Thistle (Tom D.), Friday, 20 January 2023 10:47 (one year ago) link

Voted Space Is The Place but that's actually set on Earth iirc? Which is in space, but then The Long Goodbye is a space movie too.

Daniel_Rf, Friday, 20 January 2023 10:53 (one year ago) link

Starts off on Sun Ra's home planet.

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 January 2023 12:52 (one year ago) link

Posting this in ILE instead of ILM is a fair move

عباس کیارستمی (Eric H.), Friday, 20 January 2023 13:10 (one year ago) link

Yeah its an invitation to judge the movieness rather than the soundtracks alone

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 January 2023 17:06 (one year ago) link

space is the place is more like stargate except the good guys go the other direction abd the gate actually leads to the wonderful world of spiritual jazz

SitP is on the Criterion Channel, for those of you who have access.

God help me I've seen at least some of Emmanuelle in Space

Whole Emmanuelle franchise is worth a thread of brow-furrowing tbh

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 January 2023 19:39 (one year ago) link

No Spaceballs love?

'Carry On Emmannuelle' is so bad that it stalled the Carry On series until Columbus finally killed it off.

Being cheap is expensive (snoball), Friday, 20 January 2023 19:43 (one year ago) link

But Office Space is right out.

Infanta Terrible (j.lu), Friday, 20 January 2023 20:12 (one year ago) link

Ice station zebra is a space movie, fight me

not too strange just bad audio (brimstead), Friday, 20 January 2023 20:35 (one year ago) link

The answer is For All Mankind, and not just for the Eno soundtrack.

Hideous Lump, Friday, 20 January 2023 22:43 (one year ago) link

I saw Carry On Emmanuelle as a kid in the early home video age and that's correct, it is not good

It's not an Emmanuelle movie tho tbf

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 January 2023 23:14 (one year ago) link

Not a Carry On either, sad last minute snatch at the Confessions genre, possibly killed Kenneth Williams from embarrassment and that's in among a strong field

Office Space 2: Space Office

calstars, Friday, 20 January 2023 23:24 (one year ago) link

Damn it feels good to be a binary star

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Friday, 20 January 2023 23:30 (one year ago) link

Space Is The Place so long as it's not the terrible director's cut.

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Friday, 20 January 2023 23:40 (one year ago) link

write in vote for space jam 2

nxd, Friday, 20 January 2023 23:50 (one year ago) link

Emmanuelle in Space just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to softcore sci-fi, obv. All-purpose Brit hack/auteur Norman J Warren gave us Outer Touch aka Spaced Out:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_Touch

Hammer's post-2001 SF/Western/Comedy, Moon Zero Two, does not have a v gd reputation with Hammerologists but it's pretty good fun imho, and wld be my write-in vote:

Best poll since feel it in the air vs permanent scars

(especially because everyone knows the correct answer is Galaxy Quest)

forbidden fruit salad (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 2 February 2023 01:40 (one year ago) link

By the way, for those who missed it, in the poll feel it in the air vs permanent scars, the choices were feel it in the air (on one hand) and permanent scars (on the other).

So for most people the choice was whether to go with feel it in the air, or permanent scars.
