haha, I can't really mount any kind of defense of it but I didn't hate it

Yes, on a minute-to-minute basis this is simply bad (though probably no worse than Images), but it leaves behind interestingly hazy, portentous feelings and pictures.

Worst Altman I've seen is his bit in Aria, but I've avoided most of his most hated movies.

Can I say how unnaturally annoyed I am that the thread-starter wrote "Robt." instead of "Robert" just to save themselves a single keystroke and screw up searches for the next fourteen years and beyond.

You wouldn't just search for "Altman"? There are 10 threads with "Altman" in the title. All of them are about Robert Altman, but only five of them use his full name.

I think I managed to finish Quintet ages ago, but I'm not sure; I have a DVD, which suggests I did. I remember hating Prêt-à-Porter and Dr. T & the Women even more.

So I ended up finishing Quintet It doesn't flat-out suck but it certainly is tedious. There's elements of a pretty good movie in there though which makes the whole experience frustrating. Hell, I'll even buy that civilization devolves back to a silly renaissance fair full of gamers who have camped out in an abandoned world's fair food court, but watching it all through a porthole of non-soft focused medium-wide camera angles is just annoying.
