brooklyn’s desaturated court is a crime, everyone looks like a ghoul on tv, greenish pallor and so forth. can’t believe they’re not rethinking this

its really bad, the warriors have one like it now with their rose city editions unis and it looks horrible

just awful there are a number of them out there now what with all these alt courts tho i think the nets is the worst its not just gray its a weird taupe with all the genericness of gray plus some bonus nastiness thrown in

the dubs one is extra bad how the out of bounds area is a gradient from black to flat gray, the gray end is terrible with the gray stained court and the painted grey meeting it looks not just bad but actually wrong

total airbnbcore lol the nets court has or at least even had a subway tile motif around the edges too shd get some reclaimed wood in there

nets court has some special wood pattern that might be cool under different circumstances but then its covered in weird logos and just looks busy and its a bad color too

i can't quite make it out there but in the past i think i've assumed it's actually a herringbone pattern? which as you say is a cool idea, but nothing looks good grayscale like that. i'm tempted to say there's something actually objectively bad about the gray in terms of television color balance - it really does seem like my tv struggles to give guys the skin color of actually alive human beings - but i'm also happy to allow that it's probably just a lifetime of watching basketball that's having the effect of an optical illusion when looking at courts like this, that the desaturation is everywhere, not just on the floor.

just now realising that i've been unconsciously blaming jay-z for the nets' court. i've always just assumed that his "fashion" background came into play here and he pulled rank and was like, jabbing at moodboards with a cigar in his hand, and that week he was really into herringbone so it's like, herringbone it is, also make the uniforms black - can somebody check the sales figures on black uniforms across the league please? oh, it is? yes right away mr carter - also the court should be black. well it can't be black that'll look terrible. gray? okay let's compromise on gray

it is herringbone but i think theres also something about the wood or how its finished thats different too you can see the grain more and it looks kind of shimmery, doesnt really come through on the twitter vid obvs

jayz sold his nets stake before the gray court but its still kind of his fault since he did come up with the old navy ass black unis, generally the whole nets brooklyn schtick is just unbearable, when you go there live they play like 20 jayz songs a game and yell where brooklyn its so lame complete marketing brain

then u go to a knicks game and it has an impeccable crappy old new york charm and you realize the nets will never prosper
