Rolling Obituary Thread 2022

So sad. Well loved worldwide obviously but also as a guy on the scene in NYC. I told the story when I posted about his disappearance on facebook last week, although I'd seen him around and seen the Mad Scene I never met him until I did the happy refugees reissue and they flew over to open up for Crystal Stilts in brooklyn. Hamish was at the show and the guys in Happy Refugees couldn't believe it, how cool was it that a member of the Clean was at their show! I put him on the list to come to the manhattan show the next night as well and I dj'd between bands, getting props from him for playing Clock DVA's 4 Hours, he came up to me and started singing along.

Seeing reports on FB that Jim Stewart of Stax Records has passed.

On a more underground musical note, Steffen Basho-Junghans, a German acoustic guitarist very much in the Glenn Jones and Jack Rose vein, they were mutual friends and admirers. Glenn posted a great FB note remembering him.

RIP Steffen, love quite a few of his records, blasting "In the Morning Twilight" right now.

That TV column he wrote for The Standard was often the only thing worth reading in that rag.

His album Tested On Humans For Irritancy was big for me as a kid, my mate taped a copy for a bunch of us and we'd play it incessantly during art lessons. Pretty sure I committed most of it to memory.
