If Arg draw and beat Poland they meet France.
France aren't as good as 2018 to me. It will probably be good enough to beat Argentina. Unless they improve.
If they improve now surely they beat Mex.

Argentina have scrapped their way into the game but look well short of form still

I was under the impression Brazil and France were the favourites
Argentina are shockingly poor though

Couple of really nasty tackles in the first half, wonder if Roy Keane has any funny comments to make about those.

2-0 is a very flattering scoreline but the goals were great at least. Going to be some tense final games in this group.

Arg dominated that 2nd half. 2-0 is about right. Can see them taking out Poland no problem.

Gary Neville talked about players not fearing Messi is getting the laughs. Other good one was how apparently you could exchange the English and Argies and no one would notice!
― xyzzzz__, Saturday, 26 November 2022 21:32 (one year ago) link
I would like them to meet. Probably the only chance left for an England side to face Messi.
― nashwan, Saturday, 26 November 2022 22:07 (one year ago) link
Neville and even Keane were very confident at HT about how poor ARG were.
Then at FT didn't really refer to this fact.
Impressed by Joe Cole saying that Messi's movement was "counter-intuitive".
Sorry for MEX, who have never gone beyond a WC QF if that.

I think it was worse than that, I think it was more "these players couldn't get in the England team". For a start we don't want to hear about the fucking England team at half time in an Argentina v Mexico game.

this Mexico team is one of the worst it's had in years (no wonder the US managed to beat them twice in a row for the first time in a while during Gold Cup/Nations Cup). few of the hallmarks of those successful, speedy, athletic Mexico teams that could just overwhelm you.
let's be real, a squad with better options wouldn't include Raul Jimenez who hasn't had competitive football in months

Seen lots of ads for it but haven't had the time to seek it out yet. Neando otm about El Tri lately though, their golden generation has aged and not accomplished much of late. Some of the best players from the past few years have been on the outside looking in because of pettiness wrt whoever was the coach at the time, so they haven't developed a solid core.
And fuck em anyway, lol

I feel like this is a post where someone writes "GET HIM, CARLOS" above it.
Again, I actually quite like JK, but really impressed by CQ's response. And funny that a couple of minutes of BBC talk should provoke an international incident (does CQ really care about BBC coverage? well, I suppose he worked in Manchester for years).
Even saying so, we would like to invite you as our guest, to come to our national team camp, socialise with Iran players and learn from them about the country, the people of Iran, the poets and art, the algebra, all the millennial Persian culture.
