Yes

sweet! well, i'm up for doing it whenever there's an opening in the schedule

Karl Malone, Friday, 18 November 2022 21:55 (one year ago) link

in the schedule of ballot polls, i mean. my personal schedule is looking pretty good

Karl Malone, Friday, 18 November 2022 21:56 (one year ago) link

You can go after the Police if you like. Hard to believe ILM hasn't done Sabbath yet.

Bee OK, Saturday, 19 November 2022 00:01 (one year ago) link

great, that sounds good!

and yeah, i was very surprised as well.

Karl Malone, Saturday, 19 November 2022 00:07 (one year ago) link

Is a Sparklehorse poll dead or can I add it for later?

Bee OK, Saturday, 19 November 2022 06:09 (one year ago) link

I would vote, BTW

Bee OK, Saturday, 19 November 2022 06:09 (one year ago) link

two weeks pass...

a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra) at 5:12 4 Dec 22

Would be cool if they polled all the art critics to find out what are the 100 best paintings.

I'd read that poll.
how doable is this? I mean not "all the art critics" but "all the ilxors" of course.

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Sunday, 4 December 2022 14:12 (one year ago) link

Definitely be interested in taking part in this.

Dan Worsley, Sunday, 4 December 2022 15:16 (one year ago) link

three weeks pass...

Voting is open for the ILM EOY Poll: ILM's 2022 End of Year Tracks & Albums Poll / VOTING THREAD

two weeks pass...

I don't have time to run it, but currently reading the J Dilla bio, Dilla Time, makes me think a poll of his productions would be good.

Chris L, Sunday, 22 January 2023 23:35 (one year ago) link

^ That would be cool IMHO!

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Monday, 23 January 2023 01:51 (one year ago) link

Honestly, I think Prince could use a redo ballot poll and I'm happy to collect ballots for that (unless we simply don't redo).

عباس کیارستمی (Eric H.), Friday, 3 February 2023 19:36 (one year ago) link

a niche pursuit, i'm sure, but tbh we need a RUSH poll

mookieproof, Friday, 3 February 2023 20:26 (one year ago) link

I was thinking of a Best Canadian Song poll for some point down the road (i.e., Canadian artist, not about Canada...)--we're so overshadowed by the States and Britain--but the turnout might be low, I don't know. We're not just Neil Young and Joni Mitchell!

clemenza, Friday, 3 February 2023 20:43 (one year ago) link

I'd turn out!

Les hommes de bonbons (cryptosicko), Friday, 3 February 2023 21:01 (one year ago) link

I'd vote, but I'd be afraid of very "CBC" results.

Halfway there but for you, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:05 (one year ago) link

I was counting in my head: "me, you, Thermo, halfway...uh..."

clemenza, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:05 (one year ago) link

i'd be in

mookieproof, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:07 (one year ago) link

I'd throw my considerable influence around so we get "I listen to CHUM!" circa-1972 results.

clemenza, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:07 (one year ago) link

(xpost) Hockey fandom reels them in every time.

clemenza, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:08 (one year ago) link

Only votes for Terry Jacks will be counted

Poppies, too.

it's honestly true. more or less how i ended up at mcgill

mookieproof, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:10 (one year ago) link

There you go, I never knew that. This poll will reveal the hidden Canadian in everyone.

clemenza, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:12 (one year ago) link

And of course, there will be no arguments. People will apologize for seeing things differently.

clemenza, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:12 (one year ago) link

Looking forward to this — I’ll certainly be placing a lot of votes for Don Cherry. [consults Wikipedia] Nope, never mind.

I'd love to see more artists of a country polls

nxd, Friday, 3 February 2023 21:22 (one year ago) link

Speaking of countries, an Country Music genre poll could be interesting.

I've got another month of supply teaching left (weird Canadian--Ontarian, actually--rules), so I wouldn't start till March, anyway.

clemenza, Friday, 3 February 2023 23:01 (one year ago) link

My #1 country song being Stevie Wonder’s “I Ain’t Gonna Stand for It,” agreed

عباس کیارستمی (Eric H.), Friday, 3 February 2023 23:18 (one year ago) link

I will update this list after the 2022 singles poll next week.

We have never done a redo and will have to see what the board thinks. No problem here.

Bee OK, Saturday, 4 February 2023 01:17 (one year ago) link

Singles poll may need one more week in the oven

bee i vote for you usurping everything and us skipping straight to shoegaze + post-rock.

up and down. SO FAST! stay together.💙 (Austin), Thursday, 23 February 2023 01:26 (one year ago) link

I rescind the Badu poll. I have waited too long … even longer than it’s been since her last album

عباس کیارستمی (Eric H.), Thursday, 23 February 2023 01:45 (one year ago) link

I’m not running J Dilla, if anyone wants that one.

Chris L, Thursday, 23 February 2023 06:41 (one year ago) link

You do a great job of upkeep on this. The list is so insanely long now, I'd have something like a one-month window where people can check in and say "Yes, I still want to do this," and if you don't hear from someone, or they say they've lost interest, drop that from the list. You can delete me for Wussy, for instance--there wouldn't have been much interest in the first place, and by now there'd be almost none. I'd like to the Canadian poll, any time starting in March, and that's it.

clemenza, Thursday, 23 February 2023 14:58 (one year ago) link

I'm hesitant on removing anything from the list, unless asked by the original poster asking to be put in the queue but do understand the concern. I think you asked me to remove Wussy before but forgot. I will removed that from the list along with Chris L request.

Austin, I hear you and that poll will be a lot of fun but I'm on board for Super Furry Animals next as that one is in such high demand and I have put it off for too long. It will be done this year.

#117 is next, anyone ready to run a poll?

Bee OK, Friday, 24 February 2023 18:52 (one year ago) link

Speaking of countries, an Country Music genre poll could be interesting.

― an icon of a worried-looking, long-haired, bespectacled man (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, February 3, 2023 3:31 PM (three weeks ago) bookmarkflaglink

Was thinking about this, and it feels way too massive to tackle. How would people feel about a female-only country poll? If there's interest, I think I have time to run it but would need to get it done before the last week of March or wait until later in the year.

Indexed, Friday, 24 February 2023 19:46 (one year ago) link

Would love to see the Herbie and Aphex polls this year, but it's probably going to be 2027 at this rate

octobeard, Friday, 24 February 2023 19:49 (one year ago) link

I mean, is there any percentage in keeping up a rigorous schedule at this point? I feel like unless it’s like there’s a chance 2 artist polls will have significant overlap it’s not gonna harm either one, and more often than not there’s no poll running at all. I’d say if you’re up for running a poll go for it and fuck the schedule, a remnant of a bygone era.

The land of dreams and endless remorse (hardcore dilettante), Saturday, 25 February 2023 07:03 (one year ago) link

polls happen irregularly enough now that i don't see the point in keeping a list of reservations when there's some that have been there for years and years - originally there were so many people who wanted to run polls that it made sense to have a schedule, but now we have the opposite problem. if someone wants to say 'i want to run X poll sometime in the next few months' then that's good but we probably don't need anything more than that.

ufo, Saturday, 25 February 2023 07:17 (one year ago) link

i like the idea of a Canuk tunes poll. it would be interesting to see how non Canadians view the stuff Canada has pumped out (not always penetrating far beyond our boarders).

and if a NIN poll ever happens i'd be glad to help out with images.
