I was thinking not Asunción because it had been mentioned ITT already. (other cities in Paraguay are pretty odd it seems)

Partly I was away from my computer for most of last week, partly I'd forgotten where it actually was, and partly I wanted to give a chance for someone to find the view (even though I couldn't remember where it was myself)

It appears quite a few of the other cities in Paraguay are just extensions of Asuncion!

Almost certainly Britain. Bottom half of the wall looks like Bath Stone or Cotswold Stone which doesn't make it far out of those areas.

Road marking are not typical for the uk though - or those sluice valve markers.

Here's a game for all you OSINT fans, in the photo below is a location you have to find I'll give you a hint it's in donbass and you have to come back with the exact location in the replies. first instinct is New Zealand. maybe on an estuary? no time to search right now tho

pittosporums (i think) & a tī kōuka/cabbage tree would suggest so... getting a south island vibe. is corrugated iron roofing even a thing outside the south pacific?

driving on the left side of the road

StanM, Wednesday, 7 December 2022 21:35 (one year ago) link

So the road markings from the first picture are a clearway which is also a bike lane. Also applies to Australia.

As shown here:

an australian c2 line has evenly spaced breaks 3m on 3m off. at least in nsw. looks like nz.

micah, Wednesday, 7 December 2022 23:33 (one year ago) link

The vehicle registration ticket in the bottom corner of the windscreen looks like New Zealand

So, Christchurch.

nate woolls, Thursday, 8 December 2022 00:10 (one year ago) link

I wasn't sure if it was Kandallah or Newlands looking across to East Harbour, so Wellington.

Hello I'm shitty gatsworth (aldo), Thursday, 8 December 2022 00:11 (one year ago) link

Yeah I don't think it is Lyttelton/Banks Peninsula, it looks much too populated.

nate woolls, Thursday, 8 December 2022 00:14 (one year ago) link

dunedin fits the geography, i couldn't find the castle though

ciderpress, Thursday, 8 December 2022 00:28 (one year ago) link

what ARE we looking at here - artificial snow ski slope kind of thing?

StanM, Friday, 23 December 2022 13:16 (one year ago) link

more like the stands of a stadium, no?

the shaker intro bit the shaker outro in the tail, hard (breastcrawl), Friday, 23 December 2022 13:28 (one year ago) link

I think the top of a ski slope looks right - the left hand side as we look at it has nothing behind it and the right hand side drops away

Hello I'm shitty gatsworth (aldo), Friday, 23 December 2022 16:24 (one year ago) link

Looks like a solar farm?

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Friday, 23 December 2022 16:26 (one year ago) link

To me it’s a river above the seating of a sports ground, with a railway line between. Looks like Europe maybe?

assert (matttkkkk), Friday, 23 December 2022 16:46 (one year ago) link

Solar farm is a good call

Hello I'm shitty gatsworth (aldo), Saturday, 24 December 2022 14:09 (one year ago) link

Yeah I don't think it can be a stadium, the shape is irregular and it's in a steep slope
The rest of the terrain is pretty flat if you look at the horizon but that "railway" (that I took to be road at first) looks like a funicular ?

Nabozo, Saturday, 24 December 2022 14:29 (one year ago) link

Only viewing on my phone and not able to have a better look but from memory the big cemetery in Stuttgart is on a hill and has a funicular running behind it.

Hello I'm shitty gatsworth (aldo), Saturday, 24 December 2022 16:14 (one year ago) link

Not sure it's got any water that close to it though.

Hello I'm shitty gatsworth (aldo), Saturday, 24 December 2022 16:15 (one year ago) link

i think most of the appearance of a slope and the funny shape of the stadium seating towards the lower right is due to lens distortion. look at the the funny shapes of the trees over there and the blurriness. its possible the image has been cropped toward the right side of the frame which can introduce an apparent tilt.

it also looks like a standard railway, regular sleepers etc and catenary type that is common in germany and france at least. there are no signs of it being a funicular and i wouldn't expect to see a river or lake at the top of a hill.

the biggest clue might be the colour of the stadium seats but idk. could also be an odd or horseshoe shaped stadium which might indicate a particular sport?

micah, Saturday, 31 December 2022 10:34 (one year ago) link

i'm voting for stadium - curiously the colour pattern isn't completely random, each block has the same pattern.
