anyway welcome to the thread spottie my brother in rock bands ilm doesn't really talk about at all

also circa is officially on indefinite hiatus so... plenty of time to catch up lol

last decade of circa summary:

violent waves: maybe my favorite at this point but distinctly a grower
descensus: very fun, especially whenever it seems on the verge of becoming a dumb hard rock/metal record
the amulet: their most consistent record, makes me cry
new EPs: their most daring body of work, kinda sucks they're hanging it up for the moment

Always wrote these guys off, for some reason I had it in my head that they were another meh metalcore band for some reason. What's their proggiest one? Feels like that would be my way in.

hm that’s actually a tough question to answer… would suggest on letting go (fan favorite, several songs are pretty dense for how catchy they are) or blue sky noise (not their proggiest in songwriting, actually v poppy and accessible, but takes you on a journey anyway) as a gateway

i mentioned this on the emo thread a few months ago, but green is now part of an emo supergroup called l.s. dunes, also featuring frank iero from mcr, travis stever from coheed, and the rhythm section from thursday. album (produced by yip!) comes out this friday, seems like it's gonna cook

parts of it kinda sound like a lost '90's alt rock record

lives up to the "supergroup" designation bc it really does sound like all the best components of the bands involved crushed together. title track chorus is so mcr
