im sure theres more im not thinking of

bron bad gm moves:

-shabazz draft
-bringing on old shaq and antawn jamison
-not massaging the ego of kyrie
-westbrook (over other options like derozan)
-old melo and old wade
-forced cavs to extend tristan and JR

bron (maybe) good gm moves:

-brow (kinda debatable cos they did get the bubble chip, but would he have been better off long term by keeping the young guys?)

kd bad gm moves:

-miscalculating the reception to joining the warriors
-leaving the warriors
-picking the nets
-joining up with kyrie
-deandre jordan 4/40
-handpicking the god of vibes nash
-harden
-simmons (altho not sure how much he had to do w this)

kd good gm moves:

-joining the warriors to get rings

gotta give bron at least partial credit for putting the heat together

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 November 2022 19:20 (one year ago) link

yeah it's gotta be KD

frogbs, Tuesday, 1 November 2022 19:22 (one year ago) link

think kd would be the much better actual gm, he hasnt really had the same latitude in this comparison

ciderpress, Tuesday, 1 November 2022 19:22 (one year ago) link

yeah brons track record is so much longer, tho kd has done stunning damage with the nets so idk

bron put that surrounding cast around him in cleveland the second go round. he forced the wiggins-love trade, got them to make that trade for JR and shumpert in which they also dumped waiters. they traded for mozgov as well. pretty decent GMing in all honesty

I mean all of Lebron's rings came with him as far and away the best player, whereas the Warriors were so damn good they may have won even without KD

I know that doesn't say a whole lot about their GM'ing abilities but the Heat def had some success with their role players

frogbs, Tuesday, 1 November 2022 19:27 (one year ago) link

in miami his GMing was basically giving up money to get haslem and mike miller and they brought in ilgauskas. the miller contract ended up being gravy bcuz of that one game vs OKC but overall not GM bron's finest work imo

Spoelstra and Riley were able to manage their way around LeBron's bad GM habits.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Tuesday, 1 November 2022 19:30 (one year ago) link

the best role players the heat added in those years were battier, ray allen and birdman... i don't remember reading about bron being particularly involved in any of those moves

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 November 2022 19:35 (one year ago) link

-not massaging the ego of kyrie

IDK maybe this is a point in favor of Bron?

Rabbity Gainsborough (Leee), Tuesday, 1 November 2022 19:38 (one year ago) link

once kyrie left they had no shot of competing w the warriors
