I solved Redactle Unlimited in 50 guesses with an accuracy of 90% and a time of 00:30:04.

didn’t want to randomly throw (European) country and language names around - but once I started zooming in on that it was a done deal quite quickly

Haha that one threw me for a bit cos of the weird block at the start! But it became clear quite quickly what it was.
42 guesses, 51%. Wouldve been better but I typoed at least 3 entries cos I havent had my coffee yet.

This was my jam and pretty fun to track down! Don't know how it'll play for others, though.

second guess philosophy, deconstruction after about 50 so kicking myself a bit.

ledge, Tuesday, 1 November 2022 20:29 (one year ago) link

FFS
I had the answer 10 guesses earlier, I just had it as 2 words! farrrk.

54 guesses 66%.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 2 November 2022 04:44 (one year ago) link

so yesterday’s Redactle took me 296 guesses because I only discovered today that had only ever entered POST and MODERNISM as separate prefixes/words, so I thought it couldn’t be *that word*, even though everything pointed toward it

I solved today’s Redactle Unlimited in 135 guesses with an accuracy of 75.56% and a time of 00:25:15.
very easy to cut to the chase (there was a big fat clue), but then, which type? I mean, how many can one name, really? there even was a Dutch connection, but it took a geographic location for me to make good use of it, and then the English term was just a bit of a stab in the dark, but it turned out to be a hole in one. fun and games!

I solved Redactle Unlimited in 40 guesses with an accuracy of 62.5% and a time of 00:21:27.

yeah I was at a loss for a bit after getting the second word but guessing the geographical bit clinched it.

210: You solved Redactle Unlimited in 220 guesses with 51.36% accuracy and a time of 00:16:15!

breast: what was the big clue? I rarely ever find those because I don't spend much time looking beyond the first paragraph. In today's case, I needed till 218 to even guess ship, but I had Chinese by 14.

Rabbity Gainsborough (Leee), Wednesday, 2 November 2022 20:54 (one year ago) link

the big fat clue was aboard

oh I missed that!

ledge, Wednesday, 2 November 2022 21:32 (one year ago) link

Haha yes thats what helped me too. For the bit in parentheses anyway. I got it fairly quick but was racking my brains initially as to what kind (and 4 letters).

I solved Redactle Unlimited in 122 guesses with an accuracy of 81.97% and a time of 00:24:33. cheated with the first word, although in hindsight it might have been quite guessable with some focussed logical thinking even if like me you aren’t familiar with the term

Got this one in 8 guesses 75%! there were so many single-letter blocks I typed X and got lots of hits so went from there

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 4 November 2022 01:06 (one year ago) link

Well done! I got it in 21 despite guessing e and pi after about 10.

Rabbity Gainsborough (Leee), Friday, 4 November 2022 22:02 (one year ago) link

I guess it won't or will rarely happen because there are no or few such articles in the top 1000 or whatever, but one on a book or film would be good - obvious structure (plot, cast/characters, production, reception), fun trying to get it from the plot.

ledge, Friday, 4 November 2022 22:13 (one year ago) link

didn't get yesterday's despite getting the first two words straight away. it's obvious now I've seen it. and got today's in 9 despite seeing a huge clue which could have made it a oner.

ledge, Sunday, 6 November 2022 18:18 (one year ago) link

LOL todays had me stumped and I hit on the answer quite by accident after flailing around guessing German things and getting confused by mentions of Kraftwerk and Neu! but also a bunch of unrelated stuff. This may be enough of a clue for some people to figure it out so click with caution.

Agreed with breast. I went completely on a bit of a long tangent thanks to art @32 (even though that was only 5 hits), which made me spend too much time trying to figure out why painting terms weren't giving much back to me.

Rabbity Gainsborough (Leee), Tuesday, 8 November 2022 22:03 (one year ago) link

I solved Redactle Unlimited in 41 guesses with an accuracy of 60.98% and a time of 00:20:38.

definitely a head scratcher and a satisfying puzzle. art was my first guess and yeah hard to get away from that tangent - I eventually hit on anatomy thanks maybe to the number of life classes I've attended.

ledge, Tuesday, 8 November 2022 22:37 (one year ago) link

Haha Leee I had the same red herring you did! Got it in 81, somehow.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 9 November 2022 04:33 (one year ago) link

finally got it - in 545 guesses with an accuracy of 56.7% and a time of 01:43:31. somehow I couldn’t think of the other word for corpse, I just kept filling out the blanks for fun last night. was reading an article someone posted in the US politics thread just now and suddenly the word ‘cadaverous’ was staring me right in the face. but of course!

66 guesses

got serbia after 21 then had no idea about the first word - not kingdom, not dukedom (though dukedom of serbia appears in the article!) - finally hit on the first word by chance, annoyed it took me so long to try it!

what was the clue?

ledge, Wednesday, 9 November 2022 21:15 (one year ago) link

it said “Via” (capitalized) somewhere, so I went straight for Italy/Italian (well, after I had tried Rome)

Similar experience as ledge. Got Balkan @42 and then Serbia @46, and then I was trying political entities to get the first word (duchy? kingdom? empire? republic?). I didn't follow my usual strategy of trying the broad terms like science or history, which would've helped an awful lot today.

Rabbity Gainsborough (Leee), Wednesday, 9 November 2022 22:10 (one year ago) link

219: You solved Redactle Unlimited in 94 guesses with 70.21% accuracy and a time of 00:06:56! I had to arrive at this from comic books after I saw 1-4 which kind of looked like it could be X-Men, which it was.

I solved today’s game in 143 guesses with an accuracy of 66.43% and a time of 00:28:51. thought it would be really easy at the outset, a media-related thing, but that proved to be a bit of a red herring. “toy” was the breakthrough guess

big movers, hot steppers + long shaker intros (breastcrawl), Friday, 11 November 2022 20:13 (one year ago) link

took me an unreasonably long time to guess Asia yesterday, got today's in 74 after being bamboozled for ages by a company specialising in plastic injection moulding with a strong sideline in books and films.

Kind of proud of getting this one even though I was sort of throwing spaghetti against the wall at the end. I got differential pretty quickly but when equation wasn't the second word, I was pretty much out of my depth. So that's when I just tried more general math fields.

cheated to solve Redactle Unlimited in 186 guesses with an accuracy of 66.67% and a time of 00:17:31.

other way around for me - I had “geometry” at guess 12, but yeah, I don’t know anything about that sh*t, so at some point it was tentative googling time

21 minutes? more like 12 hours. had the first word with the second guess but finding the right eight letter word was a struggle. when analysis wasn't it (after some more obvious candidates) I was stumped.

Rabbity Gainsborough (Leee), Sunday, 13 November 2022 17:52 (one year ago) link

Hahaaaaa this should have been way more obvious to me. I had all the things the answer is used for, but didn't think to link them.
