Lara Logan's downfall would be tragic if she wasn't clearly awful. I think for a lot of people, they start a bit down this road and people think they're crazy, but it just makes them double down even moreso and that just gets exponentially worse over time the more people think they're insane.

she responds by saying "on a serious note", and then talks about how she believes in god and it's the end times, etc.

the host says "final thought, final though lara, I have to ask this because my audience IS very god fearing - final thought: is god okay with a closed border?"

she goes into the stuff about democrats drinking the blood of children, etc.

the host chuckles and says awkwardly says "well let's hope so - Lara, always good to have you on, we'll get you back in here, appreciate your time, and - love your dog, wherever he or she is", and Logan says "on my lap"

I have a former friend whose descent from Obama voter hanging out with multicultural and gender fluid artists and musicians in Los Angeles to extremely online alt-right anti-trans/crypto-racist/anti-vaccine/Q-believing cartoonist in Colorado has been one of the most depressing trajectories in life of anyone I know. Not the Colorado part, that’s fine.

The cartoonist part is especially depressing.

One of those people whose true nature was either really well hidden or someone hit him on the head. What gets me, genuinely, is how this low-key and gracious type person with seemingly liberal values can turn to cruelty. And his work is very cruel.

xp Yeah, was it in him all the time, or did some external trauma change him? Not long ago, a close friend of mine divorced his wife of close to 20 years. A few years before they split, she had a serious head injury. Her personality seemed to change after that point--or maybe it's more accurate to say the worst aspects of her personality came to the fore.

I used to work for a woman who was horrible - she’d bring people into her office, shut the door, and berate them in a voice that could be heard down the hall. One day she was hit by a taxi and smacked her head on the curb, spent a couple of weeks in the hospital, and when she came back she was the nicest person on earth. I’d read about radical personality shifts like that but never experienced one up close. It was WILD.

The Balenciaga thing is one of those massive events in the right-wing information universe that barely ripples outside it. Like, most people outside that bubble, if they saw the controversy at all, thought it was just another dubiously edgy ad campaign, like many before it. People inside the bubble see it as confirmation of every bad thing they think about the degenerate liberal order. My own congressman tweeted puzzlement that people on the left who say they care about children aren't calling for boycotts of Balenciaga. (Because, you know, all those people on the left are definitely Balenciaga shoppers.)

Someone should tell them that there is a picture of dismembered baby dolls hidden in or under literally every single LP cover. Get to work, Q Anon!
