yeah I don't think it has anything to do with safety concerns, if anything the anti-vaxx position is even more ridiculous now that billions of people have gotten it. I think it probably has more do to with Covid being out of the headlines and life more or less returning to normal, for better or worse. I didn't even know there was a booster that was formulated for Omicron that was available yet. to me its like getting an oil change. just something to do some day, when you get around to it, etc. I know this attitude is super dumb of course. and I did wind up getting it last week, but only because they were giving out free shots at work :)

wife & i had covid last month & were advised to wait 3 months before getting the booster, i wonder if theres a statistically significant % of people who have had recent infections in the same boat, will be interesting to see if theres a big bump over the next couple months

I know about 5-6 people that are stuck in that exact waiting period now. But then I've also heard two coworkers in the last week comment that they knew nothing about the new boosters being available!

Most disappointing point was that these two were both totally on board with getting them, they just hadn't known they were out!

Less than FOUR percent of eligible recipients have gotten the fourth booster. Granted a lot of people have gotten COVID recently and may be waiting out the recommended three months before getting it, but still that's incredibly dismal.

Virtually every Walgreen's in NYC now seems to have a booster shot available (though if you want to stick with the series you're on, they generally seem to carry only Pfizer or Moderna and not both).

We made an appointment for our kid to get the just-approved pediatric booster next week but I'm sure the percentage of boosted kids in his school will be minimal two months from now.

In some countries the booster is only available to certain age groups (or certain conditions) so there's definitely less of a push (which means less to react to or rebel against!)

MIA being anti establishment makes me laugh i was her tenant in ldn for years we had multiple oustanding repairs and when we left she tried to take us for thousands. Whenever i see her doing this it makes me laugh

I'm getting it as soon as I can, but I've had Covid too recently to get one so soon, according to my doctor. And yeah, oil change is a good comparison.

My brother who works for the NIH and my employer have been my news sources, so that won't work for anybiody else.

MIA is quoted in the Guardian as 'knowing three people who died from the vaccine' (with the Guardian adding that there are fifteen known vaccine-based deaths total in the UK). Just surprised she didn't go with 'doctors have been paid to put Covid as cause of death'.

it is, but it's also 1) still relatively new, so if you got boosted again in the summer I don't know that you can get it yet (ie: I got boosted on July 31st, and it seems too soon? i'll probably get it in november) and 2) hard to get, it seems. Scheduling these for my kid was fucking painful, had to get it 25 miles away scheduled a week out.

In Maryland and Virginia you can get the new boosters two months after the last booster.

So there are 30 thousand doses of the latest vaccine being administered per day in the US. At that rate we could expect everyone in the population to have this dose in about 29 years.

The public health emergency declaration (which makes vaccines, testing, and treatments free) was just extended another 90 days by Biden. The problem is that Republicans in Congress are refusing to authorize funding for additional rounds of boosters after this one (170 million doses have been purchased), more tests in the mail (funds for those have run out), etc.

(This is against the backdrop of the new BQ.1 subvariants which may have potential to fuel a winter surge, and which the reformulated boosters are still expected to be effective against… as BQ is some kind of offshoot of BA.5.)

I checked out a few 2020/21 interviews (out of curiosity/boredom), and he solely talks about music... don't see anything relevant when I search his name plus "covid"... so if that is his account, he keeps his views pretty close to the vest.
