I'm so deflated rn

stank viola (Neanderthal), Friday, 30 September 2022 02:27 (one year ago) link

I don’t even follow football and I heard about this one. wtf

Karl Malone, Friday, 30 September 2022 02:49 (one year ago) link

i didn't know about the phenomenon of clinching, the raised arms after so many concussions, until tonight. that was chilling.

Karl Malone, Friday, 30 September 2022 03:01 (one year ago) link

yeah I got to read about "Second Impact Syndrome" today which seems really really bad

frogbs, Friday, 30 September 2022 03:04 (one year ago) link

He's been discharged already but no indication on what was found.

Had to leave Twitter because the "internet doctors" became too much to bear

stank viola (Neanderthal), Friday, 30 September 2022 03:44 (one year ago) link

as someone who suffered a severe tbi, i just crumple inside watching that. there was a cadre of docs and therapists making sure i COULD NOT hit my head again for two months. i was belted into a wheelchair for five fucking weeks to make sure i could not risk a fall, my bed was zippered and fucking locked at night.

it is true our situations were not totally similar re extent of damage, but they were not fucking around at all with the risk of a second impact. how nfl could allow that is a fucking crime to me now. (documentary _the crash reel_ covers this issue and a thousand other issues very very well).

i'm intentionally vague, intending to front multitudes (Hunt3r), Friday, 30 September 2022 04:47 (one year ago) link

in concussion protocol.

well after a brief period of rare light in a Dolphins season, of course it's all going to return to the same ugliness that dogged us prior to season.

going back to soccer where the drama is much more petty and light

stank viola (Neanderthal), Friday, 30 September 2022 15:57 (one year ago) link

(and not actually *life-threatening* like the NFL)

stank viola (Neanderthal), Friday, 30 September 2022 15:57 (one year ago) link

Hmm. Honestly is it the protocol itself that's too lenient?

Speaking with @judybattista on @nflnetwork, NFL Chief Medical Officer Dr. Allen Sills says Tua Tagovailoa was checked for concussion symptoms every day since Sunday. Points out independent neuro expert had to clear him. Once review is done, full results will be released publicly.

stank viola (Neanderthal), Friday, 30 September 2022 18:01 (one year ago) link

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Tua Tagovailoa sat next to him on the plane. They talked about how he was feeling for 15-20 mins then Tua pulled out his phone to watch MacGruber and they laughed together, per McDaniel.

— Cameron Wolfe (@CameronWolfe) September 30, 2022

i guess he's fine

frogbs, Friday, 30 September 2022 20:37 (one year ago) link

no, if he was laughing at MacGruber, I want him re-evaluated

stank viola (Neanderthal), Friday, 30 September 2022 20:43 (one year ago) link

A real roundabout way of “rub some dirt on it, you’ll be fine”

omar little, Friday, 30 September 2022 21:18 (one year ago) link

Good on the NFLPA but no the dolphins, McDaniel obv just whistling past the graveyard (Tua’s) with his rationalizations.

omar little, Saturday, 1 October 2022 19:24 (one year ago) link

*Not on the dolphins

stank viola (Neanderthal), Sunday, 2 October 2022 23:34 (one year ago) link

According to ESPN's win probability model, the Ravens had a 73.5% win probability by going for the touchdown and a 69.7% win probability by kicking a field goal.

hmm

mookieproof, Monday, 3 October 2022 00:01 (one year ago) link

What is it when factoring in that it's the Ravens

stank viola (Neanderthal), Monday, 3 October 2022 00:05 (one year ago) link

lol tampa ran the ball six times for three yards

mookieproof, Monday, 3 October 2022 04:01 (one year ago) link

Congratulations to the Giants and Bears for playing an authentic 50s style offensive game this week showing fans what it would have been like to see a Bears/Giants game circa 1952.

lol John Morgan is from here. One night back in 2010, he ambled into a bar called Tom 'n Jerry's (which no longer exists), already slightly inebriated, followed by his handlers. it was karaoke night, and he walked to the stage. my friend, the late DJ DI was hosting, and at her encouragement, he picked up the mic, and did his TV pitch on the mic, the best he could in his condition, then just left.

I know it’s easy to say now but why did GB call 2 passes there when Jones could not be stopped

frogbs, Sunday, 9 October 2022 16:38 (one year ago) link

My god does Twitter love seeing Aaron Rodgers eat shit. He’s becoming the new Tom Brady (but with 6 less championships)

Lmaooo Justin Tucker you rule

Matt Rhule's firing came less than three years into a seven-year, $62 million contract. He is still owed north of $40 million after guiding Carolina to a record of 11-27.

the guy had one year of experience in the NFL -- as an assistant offensive line coach -- and was 47-43 as a college head coach. fantastic work by everyone

mookieproof, Monday, 10 October 2022 18:06 (one year ago) link

I was really rooting for him after the whole situation but god Baker Mayfield sucks

frogbs, Monday, 10 October 2022 18:57 (one year ago) link

alright, this whole parity thing is really getting out of hand.

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 11 October 2022 01:08 (one year ago) link

?

i mean the browns have yet to partake of it

mookieproof, Tuesday, 11 October 2022 01:47 (one year ago) link

Early season football is so shaky, it's kind of hard to tell who is really good until about Thanksgiving or so.

Buffalo looks a step above everyone. KC has a good pass rush and the best QB. Philly is pretty good, but their and the Giants schedule has so far been to advantage I think a bit.

You know Dallas will eventually get away from the ball control and defense as soon as Dak comes back and they will work their way to the middling.

Hands up who had the trifecta with the Falcons, Steelers and Jets winning?

Check out who is leading the NFL in QBR going into this week (and probably won't go down after today)?

I don't like to blame Rodgers when the team struggles but man he has looked so bad outside of the Bears game. Other than that their 2 wins are one where he nearly got outdueled by Bailey Zappe and the one vs. Brady where the announcers would go "well you would never expect THIS kind of game" after every commercial break. its not just that he's lost a step he's just indecisive and prone to making shitty throws. he's even chucking up some really bad picks which he never does. seems to really love eating the turf this year too. granted the OL and WR situations ain't the greatest but even still he just doesn't look right
