yeah i mostly stopped playing after they acquired it lol, i did want it to become a little harder but when i do check in it seems like they seem to overwhelmingly do rock songs now? boring

i think the best use of heardle is a conversation starter for a group of "non musically worldly" friends to play the same edition, share the results, and see how well each other know the songs.

other uses include: nonrandom samples of zoomer music u dont know or care for
seeing whether u can identify famous older songs by their first second
as the above post mentions, 2 much green day

sometimes i do the vampire weekend heardle to make sure i can identify every song from their first 3 albums.

four months pass...

there are now Heardles for the 50s and 20s (both a bit crappy tho), a (solid) 10s one has been there for a while.

in related news, I had a full house today (informed guesswork, baby!) which I don’t expect to match again anytime soon.

Goodbye (official) Heardle, which I stopped playing around the time I started this thread.

Big tech company buys independent project, ruins it, closes it after a short time, we have heard this story many times before.

whatever, all the offshoot decade Heardles, 50s thru til 20s, are still around, at least 11 to play each day that I know of

there was a community thing of having just one heardle that isn't there with the thousands of variants, I guess if you are really into a band or a decade and have friends who are the same that might be OK, but it's not for me.

heardle got so much worse after spotify acquired, this was inevitable

https://heardlify.app/ - you can heardle any playlist/genre but yeah zero community aspect

I tried Heardle today and there is zero chance I have ever heard that song before.

I've not done it in ages because it started being too obscure (to me) aka too recent! I recognised today's band from the first second though....
