Here’s what I go through a lot of, thicker than the chili sauce pictured. Sriracha is okay, but I can kinda take or leave. https://www.posharpstore.com/content/images/outs/0008031_caravelle-pepper-sate-sauce-tia-chieu-sate-8-oz_0t02.jpeg

Chili garlic was my gateway drug into this general ecosystem of hot stuff

Huy Fong's Sriracha hit revenue of $150m+ a year...with no sales team, no trademark and $0 in ad spend.

Its creator is Vietnamese-American David Tran, making the sauce's success a tale of immigrant hustle and a product that literally sells itself.

That's nuts.

There are several different brands making sriracha, ranging from pretty good to awful. You can spot the worst ones because they say "no MSG"

sambal oelek is the one i have and use. havent tried chili garlic but i assume its the same thing with garlic in?

Both are great but sriracha is essential, the shortage is a bummer. Might need to start keeping some sambal at work.

chili garlic seemed to me to be a little more liquidy than sambal as well as a little less spicy… but with the added bonus of garlic!

I used to liberally use my friend's sriracha sauce when I'd house sit, and he had the Huy Fong brand. weirdly I had just assumed that's the type of packaging most sriracha came in, without realizing it was just the most famous (well, to us) brand.

the different brands have generally similar packaging, not sure what the story is there

my brother-in-law brought a bottle from the town of Si Racha in Thailand… this stuff: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sriracha#/media/File:Siracha_sauce.jpg

it was good, tasted more or less like the Huy Fong stuff, though I could have sworn I detected some fish sauce-esque flavors in it

Here are the three brands I've found in UK supermarkets

Thai Dragon is HORRIBLE, this is the one with the "Free From MSG" label 1/10
Uni-Eagle is just about ok, 5/10
Flying Goose is acceptable, maybe 6.5/10

it's neat to see those! i haven't seen any of the three there.

Sambal Oelek is the one we always have on hand in our house.

if any of you ever have occasion to pick up some of this, highly recommend - it's a local farm's sriracha here in Western Mass. Kicks the shit out of Huy Fong, which I do also love

the largest garlic chili sauce

i tried to pick some up at my local asian grocery store last week. they only had the one-gallon size (about $33), which was too large (and expensive) for me

Sriracha shortage? Please allow me to climb on a favorite hobbyhorse: fresh chili garlic sauce is super easy to make in a blender.

Fresh chili peppers (birds eye or jalapeno)
Some bell peppers to cut the heat
Garlic
Maybe ginger
Salt
Sugar
White vinegar

Blend

xp yeah, not that i'm short on any, but i've lately been making small amounts just to mix it up. lately i've been going with lime, grilled onion, fresno/serrano/habanero, lime, cilantro, and salt.
