I have been enjoying midjourneys stylistic approach, but yeah don't ask it for anything sensible you'll always get people with three or four legs for some reason

I love how all these apps produce dream like imagery, looks fine at first glance but further inspection on lettering etc reveals that it's just incomprehensible gibberish.

i used up my Dalle ones pretty quickly. I have unlimited for Midjourney though.

Here is a rat, kinda.

I prefer DALL-E’s pricing model to Midjourney’s - buying credits that don’t expire is much better than a monthly subscription to my mind. Plus DALLE gives you a few free ones each month.

I’ve used up almost all my trial credits with Midjourney and don’t think I’ll be subscribing.

Alba, Friday, 2 September 2022 17:55 (one year ago) link

Yeah the pay model makes way more sense with DallE. Have you tried the image extending generation? It's quite neat, works best when using small increments. I've been uploading my own paintings and letting it generate extra edges.

Ste, Friday, 2 September 2022 19:29 (one year ago) link

the 'remaster' option in MJ is also pretty neat:

Although it can clean up an image too much sometimes

For instance

Original:

Remastered:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FbrO3mDXwAc0GVS?format=png&name=large

The original has much more energy about it, for me.

Ste, Friday, 2 September 2022 20:00 (one year ago) link

Signed up for midjourney and wasted 40 credits because I didn't know what I was doing and redid my first prompt over and over trying to download images. Oooops.

papal hotwife (milo z), Friday, 2 September 2022 20:06 (one year ago) link

Yeah I've played with the image extending a bit - easy to burn through credits with it. This one was extended. I had to extend it quite a lot as despite the original being DALL-E-generated, it fell foul of the 'no realistic faces in uploads' rule, which is a bit daft.

https://i.imgur.com/qk37kNd.png

And DALL-E's ban on prompts of famous people is so patchily implemented. It's stopped me doing Harry Styles and Boris Johnson, but its list of famous people must be very short as there are plenty of others it has let through. But as someone said, MJ is generally better for pop culture stuff.

Alba, Friday, 2 September 2022 20:38 (one year ago) link

When I say I had to extend it quite a lot, I mean that if the 'generation frame' covered the original face it had generated, it blocked me from doing it on the no-realistic face uploads rule.

There's also another one to try: https://beta.dreamstudio.ai/dream

Been exclusively using the Stable Diffusion AI at https://beta.dreamstudio.ai/ over the past week - as well as being a lot cheaper than DALL-E, it's really pretty amazing, especially at doing things in the style of an artist. I can see why living artists are pissed off at it being trained on their works without permission.

In the style of Tamara de Lempicka has been good. This is me trying to get a good one of Malcolm McDowell, at first just him then him in A Clockwork Orange. I mean, some of these would definitely do for a cheap paperback edition of ACO.

Played about with Matisse too. I think the prompt for the first was "A blue and white cut-out of a laughing face, made by Henri Matisse". The second one started the same and I forget the subject. Third was a self-portrait.
