might be my most listened to track of the decade
― nxd, Thursday, 18 August 2022 13:54 (one year ago) link
Great song even though I don't think it's in my top 10 The-Dream.

best Ready for the World homage ever

I can't think of many albums I was more excited about hearing for the first time than Love King and "Yamaha" blew my head off - and it continues to do it to this day.
― bain4z, Thursday, 18 August 2022 13:59 (one year ago) link
Really like how this song starts as if it had already been going on for a while, accumulating energy.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:00 (one year ago) link
wow truly surprised @ yamaha placing. im here for it but yeah there are dozens of better 2010 dream songs imo

in my opinion yamaha is probably the best grand piano/motorcycle company out there— karl hess (@karlhess) September 2, 2019

Our next song was bafflingly missing from the 2012 nominations and did not place.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:13 (one year ago) link
It features a Beach House sample too

whoa, it's my first vote to place
― sloop johnnin' skater (geoffreyess), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:19 (one year ago) link
this could be the first of anywhere between 3 and 7 of his lol
― imago, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:20 (one year ago) link
this is def one of his best songs though, glad it made it in
― comedy khadafi (voodoo chili), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:21 (one year ago) link
Yeah this is my favorite KL song, I never get bored off it. Jay Rock shines more than him on this one though
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:23 (one year ago) link
Love King definitely felt like a step down from his first two albums, but Yamaha is one of his best songs.
I seem to remember despite Kendrick coming second in our 2012 albums poll, there wasn't much of him in our tracks list. Maybe just Cartoon & Cereal which wasn't on the album.
― kitchen person, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:24 (one year ago) link
So many good tracks on GKMC.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:24 (one year ago) link
Cartoons & Cereal was the most voted for KL track I think?
Yeah glancing at the noms /// poll /// individual ballots it seems like ILM didn’t think much of KL at the time. Which is weird because I definitely remember the rest of the internet hyping GKMC that year.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:26 (one year ago) link
Good Kid is still my favourite Kendrick track. I doubt many agree.
― kitchen person, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:28 (one year ago) link
Bitch dont kill my vibe and swimming pools were the big ones iirc.
Overall opinion has shifted and favored more Money Trees and Sing About Me as the highlights as time has passed from what I’ve seen.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:28 (one year ago) link
ILM was too busy listening to Miguel.
― MarkoP, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:30 (one year ago) link
Here’s another track that didn’t make it to the top 77 of its respective year:

The P!nk sample is so so perfect
― bain4z, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:38 (one year ago) link
Yeah! , That’s todd in the shadows isn’t it?
Couldn’t find any decent photo of Burial and searched for hooded guy on computer

I don't think it's actually Todd, I was just making a joke.
It's clearly Banksy checking his e-mail.
― MarkoP, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:41 (one year ago) link
Voted for this quite high. It's such a beautiful track, and so fraught with pain. Feels like walking through different caverns of the mind. Goosebumps every time.
― tangenttangent, Thursday, 18 August 2022 14:43 (one year ago) link
My very most favorite Burial!! Would never have thought of it as 2010s, in my mind it's 2000s and it's timeless

what's the one thread for spotify "hits" that are disproportional to the rest of an artist's catalog? with Grouper I think that's "Poison Tree", which has 35M listens, from the split with Inca Ore in 2008.

Went back and forth on my #1 but ended up selecting "Headache." Nothing moved me more in the 2010s. Kills me every goddamn time.

Also just devastating to experience live.
Our 33 has already appeared multiple times in the poll, can you guess who it is?

Wow surprised "Money Trees" made it, I was not expecting it. His best ever song imo
― Vinnie, Thursday, 18 August 2022 15:22 (one year ago) link
I'd guess it's either Taylor Swift or HAIM at 33.
