voted for 4 from today - Frank Ocean’s Thinkin Bout You, which was high on my list, and also Cool For the Summer, Trap Queen and Money Machine

I completely forgot about Time, but it is a good track

didn’t vote for Get Lucky in the Daft Punk poll, but it doesn’t seem out of place here

Today felt more distinctively ILM - less risk of mistaking it for idk Paste Magazine's 2010s rundown. Even the obvious hits are ones the board talked about a lot (video gaaaaymes).

wrt Thinkin Bout You, I like the contrast in tone between the verses, which are juvenile and playful (although ultimately revealing hurt), and the falsetto chorus, which is more sober and serious

and the whole thing reined in by the saturnine synths

Pretty sure Adigéry slipped off the end of my ballot at the last minute for some reason. I remain pro-Adigéry, however, so yay!

Definitely voted for "The Vile Stuff" from this batch, at least. And, I think, an earlier Hatchie number; "Stay With Me" does feel like the more ILMcore option there lol.

Many missed opportunities in the 102-150 portion of the poll.

There’s at least 5 tracks in there which I would have bet big money on them being in the top 50 portion of the poll.

it isn't big money but I'm wishing I Need You made it, probably not though

I’m specially sad at how two tracks I love missed being represented (our #102 and our #112) because it’s the sort of thing almost noone would’ve complained about and it would’ve given some sonar variety to the poll but oh well. Maybe next life.

There’s still good things to come. Including more tracks that we hadn’t seen before in our top 77, one of which wasn’t even nominated back then.

I Need You should have been voted in here

the mantra, extended length, delayed vocal and instrumental entries, live sound, dilated synth with the frequency range opened up so that it sounds slightly distorted, spoken word, and martial percussion with highlighted hi-hats are all together about perfect

it is both meditative and resolute

god the entire top 50 so far (albeit only ten songs in) has been miraculously uninterrupted excellence, listening through to them now - work and two weeks both bring it on top of the aforepraised, really really hope it can be kept up today

the drop into the chorus of trap queen is maybe the best moment of 10s music, how am i only now realising this

Astonished that I didn't vote for High Lights, since I nominated it in 2019 and also this year, where did it go from my list? could've been top 20 with a few more votes.

"high lights" was a real surprise to see since it didn't place that high in 2019

every time i listened to it while assembling my ballot, it climbed higher, would imagine 7 others had a similar experience

I had a long ILX hiatus and if this is against the spirit of poll roll-outs tell me to shut up but are we assuming "Black Beatles" is top 20 material?

We've been asked to assume nothing, but if it missed out I'd be very surprised, even though I'm no fan and I don't think RS have aged well compared to some of their peers

Adigéry may benefit from some retroactive love? Cumulative goodwill accrued across subsequent pretty interesting releases into the current decade.

(Perhaps not entirely unlike how I voted for a 2019 Dry Cleaning track that I certainly hadn't absorbed properly in 2019!)

The Topical Dancer album was the first Charlotte Adigéry I'd heard. TBH while the production sounds amazing I have mixed feelings about some of the lyrics on it, which I don't find as witty as most others seem to. "High Lights" is great full stop though; will have to go back and see what I've missed.

Missed yesterday but I'm so happy to see "The Greatest" land a spot too. I get that "Hey" and "Supernatural" were the opening salvos, but after years of having this unicorn perfect EP in the ether, for them to fire off a first single from a full LP and to have it not only match that miracle in quality but, to my ears, push it forward and surpass it ... that was probably the most thrilling musical moment of the decade for me.

Is Paris Strother doing anything besides being Coldplay's keyboardist atm?

I mean, if you want your Strother fix, the Coldplay track Coloratura from last year is somehow one of the better places to find it

As in, she's on the whole album, but that song (the only one I've heard) is the clear highlight

I mean I’m happy for her and hope they paid her well and it opens more doors for her. Not sure if I want to listen to her in a Coldplay context as I’m afraid I might even like it.

Just now getting to this thread because I was busy this week. Oranssi Pazuzu track was my number 3, so I'm glad that my vote was enough to push it into the top 100.

Other than that I gave a couple of points to 100 gecs, because that track is amazing. Voted for Destroyer and Weyes Blood, but not these tracks.

I’ll start early again, post this first 40-36 batch 20/25 mins apart so you all have time to catch up.
