The NBA's new schedule has 55 baseball-style series in which the road team plays the same foe twice in a row without travel ... up from 23 last season.

Plus 33 instances on the schedule in which the road team stays in LA or New York to play both local teams on the same trip.

bronny is a 2023 recruit so he's not gonna be in the league til 2024 (after bron's current contact ends, player option doesn't enter into it)

based on player availability it can really fuck with seeding! it sucks.

idk i can kind of see it they want to give the team a shot, theyre pretty fucked otherwise, and theyre prob fucked anyway

i bet they end up taking that deal, i think it will be there for a while. seems like a play to set the baseline and to see if anyone else comes in higher.

I still totally understand the nets position of wanting to wait this out and try to run it back. they built this team expecting high upside/high variance, the dice didn’t roll their way last year but considering the chances they get equivalent talent back are pretty much zero, to me it makes perfect sense to just roll the dice again and hope things break their way. if KD is really going to sit out his age 34 season…well I’ll believe it when I see it

i am sympathetic to players wanting out of bad situations, but rather less so to KD, who -- correct me if i'm wrong -- more or less engineered his entire situation?

also don't know anything particular about joe tsai and his vision for the nets but i can easily imagine a billionaire in this position choosing to absolutely fuck KD over in any way possible
