Wow, that KING video; I voted for that song and had no idea.

Chris L, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:04 (one year ago) link

frogbs, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:10 (one year ago) link

“the greatest” is so good but isn’t quite as transporting as “hey,” and such are the qualifiers one needs to make when ranking a decade’s worth of music

comedy khadafi (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:16 (one year ago) link

I did not vote for it, but I fully endorse this placement

imago, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:18 (one year ago) link

Did Die Antwoord place in the 2000s poll?

think I have to accept that I will never get 100 gecs at this stage.

Also fairly sure I'm the only one around here who thinks AG Cook >> SOPHIE >>>>>>>>>>>> gecs

link.exposing.politically (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:33 (one year ago) link

I’m with you on that ranking

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:35 (one year ago) link

I mean, going by my voting, I'm with you on that, except add Harle several >>>s to. The left of all of them

imago, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:35 (one year ago) link

i've grown to like a lot of hyperpop but i still do not buy what 100 gecs sells

comedy khadafi (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:38 (one year ago) link

there's not much redeeming about "money machine" imo. annoying music designed to appeal to annoying people.

comedy khadafi (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:39 (one year ago) link

Last one for the day.

I hope you have mildly enjoyed today’s countdown. Tune in tomorrow for some more.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:39 (one year ago) link

Much better songs on that Rihanna album.

yes!

Malevolent Arugula (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:43 (one year ago) link

Much better songs on that Rihanna album.

my vote went to the truly awesome “Needed Me”

big movers, hot steppers + long shaker intros (breastcrawl), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:48 (one year ago) link

There’s better songs on that Rihanna album but ILM loves Drake.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:49 (one year ago) link

Really not feeling much in today's tranche.

Panda bear, my gentle friend (morrisp), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:50 (one year ago) link

After a hazy start, really enjoyed today's selection

imago, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:54 (one year ago) link

From today’s run I voted for FKA Twigs, Charlotte Adigery, Pachanga Boys and Destroyer.

I don’t get 100gecs but I don’t mind that sort of memecore or whatever they call that sort of sound getting a mention on a 2010s countdown

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:54 (one year ago) link

From today, Frank Ocean and SVIIB we're in the ranked portion of my ballot. Happy I could help push them higher up. Voted for Charlotte Adigéry in the unranked portion.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:58 (one year ago) link

Maybe FKA Twigs too. Seems like I'd have voted for her as well.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 17:59 (one year ago) link

Like everything she does, "High Lights" is ridiculously cool.

"Work" was top 10 on my ballot and still sounds so fresh to my ears.

Indexed, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 18:01 (one year ago) link

Didn’t know that SVIIB song was that well liked on ILM. Would have considered voting for it. Was obsessed with it back then and that whole brand of synth-y shoegaze / dreampop revival at the beginning of the decade

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 18:04 (one year ago) link

From the 2010 rollout:

"I L U" is probably the most emotional a song made me get all last year. The "I loved you" line is so much better than "I love you" would be.

― Johnny Fever, Thursday, January 27, 2011 1:32 PM

otm, the past tense slays me.

I don’t remember “Trap Queen” being this good.

Good job ilm

i'm like hey wassup hello

aegis philbin (crüt), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 18:45 (one year ago) link

After averaging three per day I only got two today, tho some others were on my expanded list

Bee OK, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 19:26 (one year ago) link

My Daft Punk dilemma regarding "Get Lucky." I was not going to vote for it but since I ran the DP poll this year I felt a duty to place it.

Looking over the results, so far, I see I'm part of the problem.

Bee OK, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 19:31 (one year ago) link

i'd never heard "Time" (Pachanga Boys) before the poll and holy shit what a track.

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 17 August 2022 20:14 (one year ago) link

Just don't look up the other songs on that single.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 17 August 2022 20:47 (one year ago) link

so high i played "thunder scat" instead of "time" and ruined the sunrise vibe

ah man I should've voted for that SVIIB track, kind of forgot about it. Open Your Eyes almost made the cut but never got round to a relisten of ILU

100 gecs in 2 weeks

Ha, was going to say exactly this!

money machine was my #4 and thrilled to be annoying enough to enjoy it. For me it's such an emblematic bookend between the decades; really feels equally the last song of the 10s and the first of the 20s.
