if there are particular dudes you feel should be on the nomination list, just say "[this guy] should be a nominee"
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Wednesday, 20 July 2022 02:04 (one year ago) link
oh and btw submit ballots even if its just "heres five dudes i remembered"
Mike Miller would be a deserving nominee, if he qualifies

currently a 6-way tie for the 5th spot, unlike voting in us elections, your vote really matters here

Oops I already voted and did not vote for him, but Raja Bell is an egregious omission from the noms list.
There's always next year!

the 14-way tie...has broken. however, one vote can dislodge someone in the top 5 quite easily.

Alan Henderson
My favorite team ever who broke my heart twice losing to Duke in the final four (EVERYBODY FOULED OUT) and then Alan the next year got hurt before the tournament to lose to Kansas in the elite 8. Sadly both Alan and Calbert Cheaney both spent their careers playing in the total basement dwelling doldrums of the NBA. Oh what could have been...
Henderson was one of the few players I regularly would see on campus as he had a class same time as one of mine in the same hallway. It was hilarious to see his huge frame sitting up against the wall with his long old legs sticking out in front of him way into the walk space.
I delivered wings once to Damon Bailey and in true southern Indiana fashion he answered the door with a big dip in and they were listening to Dio while playing Sega. I kicked Pat Graham out of a BW3s back in the day for him and bunch of dudes drunk as a skunk throwing spent chicken wings across the bar.
Jimmy Jackson was an awesome player. I saw him in the Hall hit a shot to beat the Hoosiers. Fxxk Chris Jent forever, I hated that dude. I think it is a rule that every decent Big 10 team has to have one saw cut white dude that the rest of the league's fans hate for dirty a$$ play and early onset male pattern baldness. Purdue's Brian Cardinal is an all-timer in that category.

earl, thats looking awfully close to a role player hollafame ballot
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Sunday, 24 July 2022 20:38 (one year ago) link
damon bailey would be dq'd bc he never played in the pros. but henderson, jackson, and cal cheaney are all hall eligible.
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Sunday, 24 July 2022 20:39 (one year ago) link
Damon was a really good all around player, but the problem was he was a 6-3 forward. Dude is like in the top 5 or 10 for every stat all time @ Indiana.
AJ Guyton is another favorite Hoosier that hung around the pros playing usually on dreg clubs.
One other Hoosier that had an interesting if future predictive career as a hard working pro is Dean Garrett. Dean was a transfer and the big guy was huge part of the '87 championship team, who got no look to the pros out of college but later played for the T-Wolves like after a decade in Europe. One of the early guys to take that route to the pros.
Rony Seikaly was a really good pro. I think he went to a couple All Star games didn't he? He was on some of the early good Heat teams and also played in the 87 championship game for Syracuse.
Saw this one more than a few times when I was playing in a band going to shows on the by-pass.

One of these banners for Diane Sawyer used to be on a building right behind Third Street Dive when we played there I saw all the time.
Another player I loved as a kid watching the Pacers who definitely deserves to be in this type of hall (although he retired earlier) is Detlef Schrempf. That dude was THE first of his kind that big tall, all around baller that could shoot European. He was decent for Indiana and I get why they traded him, but he really got good in Seattle playing with the X man (& Sam Perkins) and won a Sixth man of the year.
Loved Sam Perkins and considering how well he could shoot 3s as a 7 footer, I think he could have been even better perhaps in this modern game.

Fred Hoiberg - well loved player in his time with the Pacers and occasional 3 point line bench trigger man for the Bulls. I kinda think he should have never left coaching Iowa State.
Chuck Hayes deserves some respect, as that dude crawed out a long career playing tough ass defense for Houston after playing at UK. Him and Tayshaun were some of Tubby's best players, dudes that stayed 4 years and got better and played hard as nails. Tubby was a good coach, but he did not have the recruiting acumen to keep UK at the top. Dude did some good things in the community when he was in Lexington and it is remembered to this day, even though they many in the fanbase gave him way too much shit for not winning when he was the coach.

Scott Skiles - speaking of "every decent Big 10 team has to have one saw cut white dude that the rest of the league's fans hate for dirty a$$ play and early onset male pattern baldness". Dude could flat out score.Hated by both Purdue and IU fans for not going to either school.
This was back when Indiana HS basketball was the thing.
