Xxxpost it was Hollinger, he loved Minott, way off of the consensus

ah very interesting

The asking price appears to be steep, but in the wake of Utah’s recent Rudy Gobert blockbuster deal to Minnesota, the Jazz are no longer simply dismissing calls on Mitchell, sources said.

lol. you don’t say

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 21:47 (one year ago) link

Notable Kevin Durant update from @wojespn:

- Heat are "most determined" to land Kevin Durant
- Heat, Suns will "need some help" from other teams to help facilitate Durant deal
- No progress with Raptors for Durant because Scottie Barnes is a "non-starter" in trade negotiations pic.twitter.com/OJ8LlDRNYx

i may have already said it but i'll say it again, i do not see how miami has the assets to get KD, 3rd team or not

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:39 (one year ago) link

yeah toronto can still put together a better package without barnes

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:45 (one year ago) link

the price might end up lower than goberts

Spottie, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:47 (one year ago) link

he will 100% go for lower than gobert, and mithchell too. if the nets were going to get a gobert level package for him he'd already be out the door

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:49 (one year ago) link

bet itll end up being for fewer picks but with a meaningful player or two in it, better than gobert but not as better as durant is than gobert

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:50 (one year ago) link

conspiracy theory based on nothing: nets will not trade kd at all, kd only publicized the trade demand so he could remain in kyrie's good graces but he's secretly relieved to be rid of kyrie

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:53 (one year ago) link

the nets are in a horrible position, KD has publicly demanded a trade and unless he changes his mind they have no leverage other than "we'll make you play for us as a hostage." when you combine that + his insistence on choosing his team & the rest of the league's reticence to give up a haul of assets for a 34 year old who doesn't want to be on their team, the result is going to be a trade that pales in comparison to the other star trades we've seen recently

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:53 (one year ago) link

like siakim van vleet and two firsts, is that better than what the jazz got yeah i think it is but its not a "slam dunk"

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:54 (one year ago) link

i suspect the nets will be fine with hanging on to him until someone steps up and also that hes prob fine with going to more teams than just the suns and the heat

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 22:55 (one year ago) link

many people seem to think the suns are going to get him which tbf sounds pretty likely when you consider that we recently learned that their gm doesnt believe in the future

it could come later tho

i also dont really see kd sitting out if he has to stay? doesnt seem like his m.o.

i don't think the nets leverage is going to increase over time. the process dragging out is not a positive for them, imo

idk, hes got 4 years on his contract

Spottie, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:08 (one year ago) link

i just dont see them taking pennies on the dollar for him

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:12 (one year ago) link

i don't think it really does anything for them to get into a ben simmons like showdown w/ him. what is the positive outcome for them? a brooding and annoyed KD playing for a middle of the road team? are they gonna force him to play the full 4 years? bcuz his trade value decreases w/ every next game he plays. if they foresee a trade at some point in the next 4 years they might as well just do it now. their other problem is that their model as a glamor market team is to be in the star hunting business and because of that they will prob need to play nice w/ him. you can't really be playing hardball w/ stars and then be trying to convince other stars that you're the best place for them

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:14 (one year ago) link

i dont think miamis going to get him

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:15 (one year ago) link

who can they even trade that wouldnt hobble the team

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:15 (one year ago) link

the whole thing has an extreme "cut your losses" vibe to me. they screwed this up massively at several points along the way, they might as well recoup whatever value they can for him now and figure out the next phase of the franchise

it would be one thing if they hadn't just gotten swept out of the first round w/ a fully healthy KD on the court. what is the path for them to accomplish anything w/ KD at this point? does anyone think they have a chance of beating out boston, milwaukee, miami, philly to even have a shot at a title? the experiment is over, they failed. KD asking out while he's still considered a top 5 player in the league might be a blessing in disguise at this point

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:18 (one year ago) link

i think they can find a big deal for him, hes too good to not bring in a haul

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:20 (one year ago) link

suns have all their picks btw

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:20 (one year ago) link

tho i suspect what the nets really want is to give this kd/kyrie/simmons team a try

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:22 (one year ago) link

― lag∞n, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 7:15 PM (two minutes ago)

if it really just comes down to phoenix and miami i think you could make the argument that herro & strus are an equal or better package of players compared to bridges & cam johnson. if you're competing for a title you'd rather have bridges than herro but bridges on a gutted roster isn't doing much for you, herro prob has more value bcuz he can run offense. strus is great value on a minimum deal and duncan robinson as salary filler is pretty easily rehabbed, he was fine last year he just wasn't good enough to play on a team that was legitimately competing for a title. but there's plenty of teams that could use him. so it would come down to who was willing to cough up more picks & for that reason i think it would be phoenix but it could be the heat, at that point who knows

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:23 (one year ago) link

lol yeah kds not getting traded for herro and strus

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:25 (one year ago) link

i'm sure the nets agree which is why he hasn't been traded yet. but if he goes to miami or phoenix it would really be a trade for picks and they would just have to accept the role player appetizer sampler as the players in return. bcuz they aren't getting butler, bam, cp3, booker or ayton. so who is left?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:29 (one year ago) link

i think they can find a big deal for him, hes too good to not bring in a haul

― lag∞n, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 7:20 PM (two minutes ago)

the raptors are the key team. but if it's a market that is closed to all but 3 teams it's going to naturally depress what the nets can get back for him regardless of how good ppl think he is. the best case scenario for them is to have phoenix and toronto bidding against each other bcuz phoenix will offer the mega picks package and then maybe the nets can hit the sweet spot of getting a siakam + van vleet + picks package from the raptors. but the raptors have no real incentive to do that if all phoenix and miami are offering are the equally middling packages of role players and 2-3 firsts and swaps

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:31 (one year ago) link

i mean first of all bridges and johnson are much better than herro and strus and the suns have one more first available to trade than the heat, but also the idea that kd cant be traded to another team or that either the heat or the suns wont let a good player peel off seems pretty dubious

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:35 (one year ago) link

worth noting too re holding on to kd if they dont find a deal they like that all the contracts signed this summer become eligible to be traded at some point during the season so their is some incentive to wait, also theres time for teams to decide they need him

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:38 (one year ago) link

lol yeah kds not getting traded for herro and strus

― lag∞n, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 4:25 PM (nine minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

hah yeah man no way jordan. if bam isnt in on it the nets arent doing it. theyre gonna hold til they get at LEAST one all star level player back.

Spottie, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:39 (one year ago) link

yeah daryl morey played this game too and he ended up having to attach seth curry and two first round picks to get back james harden

this is what a heat trade looks like

that was ben simmons tho xp

Spottie, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:44 (one year ago) link

its also a very reasonable deal for the james harden that exists in moreys mind

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:45 (one year ago) link

i think tsai might be rethinking their stance on how they team build going forward.

the heat aren't trading bam to get KD

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:53 (one year ago) link

i mean i wouldnt

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:56 (one year ago) link

but they would be getting back a very similar player in ben simmons just with heat culture levels set to zero

lag∞n, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 23:57 (one year ago) link

they could consider it a challenge

lag∞n, Wednesday, 13 July 2022 00:00 (one year ago) link

i think for the heat the calculus is pretty simple. if they're in a bidding war w/ phoenix they won't have to trade bam bcuz phoenix won't be putting a comparable player on the table and so it's just about whether they're willing to put in more picks than phoenix. and if it's an open market then other teams will be able to put together better packages and they'll just keep their assets for mitchell or whatever else

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 13 July 2022 00:04 (one year ago) link

considering the suns have one more pick available to trade than the heat and they famously do not value the draft pretty sure theyre winning that one
