DiVincenzo's potential contribution could be much higher than his recent performance. He is about year removed from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left ankle. Much like an ACL, it can 12 months to regain strength / confidence in the ankle.

the nets apparently didn’t even offer bruce brown a contract, what in the hell is happening over there?

xp bryn does one thing extremely well and that is shoot 3s, his form is so pure. he can hit runners/floaters if chased off the line. that's about it! he's a turnstile on D and has no playmaking skills to speak of, but if he plays 10 minutes a game and hits a couple of 3's per game, he's valuable in that role.

i should say that bryn puts in effort on D, its just hes within the normal range of size for a human man in a league full of human men in the exceptional size range

one kind of funny thing about this whole situation is for anyone who watched the playoffs durant is obviously not as good as everyone thinks

hes 33 hes injured a lot he pretty much just takes elbow jumpers now

i could see it working in the right situation but still someone is going to give up too much for maybe a two year championship window

yeah that’s the big thing, he’s not a top 5 player anymore and you’re trading for his decline years

Trading Durant to his other preferred choice, Miami, is equally complicated. For starters, Durant wants to go there to play with Jimmy Butler, not to be traded for him. Second, Bam Adebayo can’t be part of a trade as long as Ben Simmons is a Net, as a result of that same CBA provision on “designated rookie” deals that scuppered our Mitchell scenarios above.

There is one way around this, however: Put Simmons in the trade. I doubt Miami wants him, but tough noogies. If you want Durant, this is what you have to take with him. Simmons would be Miami’s DeAndre Jordan.

If that’s the case, then suddenly we can get to Miami trades that actually work. How about one where Miami sends out Adebayo, Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Tyler Herro, two unprotected firsts (2023 and 2028) and three pick swaps (2024, 2027, and 2029) for Durant, Simmons and Seth Curry?

It still seems tricky. The Heat might argue they don’t need to include this much draft equity, and would surely look for scenarios to avoid including Adebayo at all. Since those scenarios basically don’t exist, it might be a conservation-ender. Even if it wasn’t, Simmons would become a guy the Heat had to count on — yikes — and they wouldn’t have a center.

But they would have Kevin Durant.

pretty big difference though in that one of them is confirmed to play basketball and the other is not

bam is better in every facet of the game and also has a certain… mentality… that the heat prize and which simmons lacks

i wouldn’t trade bam for KD and i doubt the heat would either

the heat’s path to KD is KD forcing his way there, they aren’t going to be able to outbid an open market. if KD wants to go to phoenix that just makes too much sense, tho i’m not sure a package headlined by bridges is all that exciting personally. but you could feel good about suns picks 3-5 years out being juicy just based on how bad the franchise is

Does KD have Heat mentality? He has definitely been a competitive, hard working guy. But he's also done everything by now (according to a fair observer). Suppose Butler could reignite the hunger.

Kd works really hard no way he wouldn’t fit the heat culture.
