think this might be overstating things a bit but they def did make the wcf, i dont think the mavs are one of the really bad franchises but they often seem pretty shaky, theres all the non basketball snafus too

yea he was pretty bad in this year's playoffs but last year when they won it all he was often the one guy other than Giannis consistently making big plays. also was a really good rotation guy all year. plus the fans love him

Not sad to lose Huerter honestly. He’s good but not worth what they paid him. Just really inconsistent

Huerter not consistent but that usually improves with age. Seems weird to bail now idk

they must have decided that a protected kings first has more value around the league than huerter, which may be correct. you’d have to figure they shopped him around and didn’t find anything they liked, or at least nothing they liked that was worth keeping themselves in the tax. but i remember when huerter signed that deal ppl were like, great contract immediate trade value. maybe he just wasn’t that valued around the league. i guess it depends on what the protection is on the pick
