its always weird when a spurs pick/prospect doesnt pan out

he showed some signs of being a great 6th man when derrick white was traded. i think he averaged 17 ppg after the deadline? he's always had great athleticism, he's just a mess on team defense and doesnt have a strong enough handle to be a lead guard. but he'll make some plays that will leave you speechless and can get hot from 3. i hate to say this but i think it was a good signing for the lakers.

the writing was on the wall for lonnie when the spurs drafted 3 guys who play his position in two summers, tho

the portis contract doesn’t strike me as insane in a vacuum but for a team that needs to hit on lots of moves on the margins it feels like an overpay to me. he was *fine* in that celtics series but ultimately seemed quite limited for what that series was

those guys were also finds of the previous regime. i think the jury is really, really out on the current one.

xp thats valid! im just not wild about how theyve squandered the window dirk gave them by gifting them productive below market years and now these questionable builds around luka. they dont feel like a serious team to me even tho luka is a generational talent.

think this might be overstating things a bit but they def did make the wcf, i dont think the mavs are one of the really bad franchises but they often seem pretty shaky, theres all the non basketball snafus too

shaky is the best way to describe it. they've had plenty of good players but it never seems to come together in the right way
