What if we introduce “puzzles” to the people of Q? We can tell them it’s all in the service of finding the big secret, or whatever they call it these days. But then, by the time they realize they’ve been doing recycled jumb-o crosswords from 1982 and sudoku, it’s way too late because they’re hooked! Don’t lead these q horses to just any water. Lead them to the water that is far far away

km I think you're the man for the job!
I think I posted about this before on some other thread but a truck with a Q bumper sticker has been parked across the street from my house working on a construction site most days for the past year. A couple months ago a traffic cop was writing someone a ticket for illegally parking too close to a driveway and the people on the construction site were verbally harassing him at the top of their lungs - ya know, traffic cops, the deep state. In any case, Q may wax and wane but the aggression and hatefulness and paranoia are alive and kicking

Huh, I assumed that the revival would be about the revival - the new Q posts seem to be just splitting the fan base on the forum I read (which turned full Russophile over the last few months)

The Q stuff all works in sync obviously with the talking about "grooming" and "butchering" children (the latter the favored phrase for gender-affirming care). Mainstream Republican rhetoric increasingly feels like Q LARPing.

"Work" in what sense? The Q people are a subset of Trump true believers, who are a subset of Republican party members. This does not grow his potential voter base by one person.

This seems like a naive take to me. It will “work” for the Kochs etc by significantly increasing manipulation of elections.
Folks, what True the Vote is doing with QAnon influencers -- employing them, using them to target an election software company, funneling supposed claims they have to law enforcement -- is starting to become one of the biggest stories in the history of QAnon. https://t.co/7jNzj2pSos— Alex Kaplan (@AlKapDC) September 20, 2022

QAnon followers search for hidden meaning in cryptic messages from a supposed military leader with the code name “Q” and in Trump’s own pronouncements. The Negative48 spinoff focuses on deciphering meaning using a takeoff of gematria, an ancient Hebrew tradition of assigning numeric values to letters. (Forty-eight, the group says, is the value of the word “evil.”)
god, please tell me that 48 isn't just the numerical order of the letters of "E V I L" in the english alphabet
E...5 +V...22 +I...9 + oh...god, fuckL...12 there is no god, fuck all of this_____48
DAMMIT, this shit is EXCRUCIATING to confirm
One man with the group who didn’t identify himself illustrated how it worked using the name of this newspaper. “The Washington Post?” he said. “W is 23 in the alphabet. P is 16. Thirty-nine. Angel 39. Which angel? Lucifer was an angel.”
oooooooh FUCK

trump's embrace of them makes sense: very worst case scenario for trump is that he's not able to steal the 2024 election, and if so he can rely on Qanon and the special elite level of Qanon geniuses to give him money for the rest of their lives. it won't be enough to keep funding his incredibly tacky lifestyle, but he will always be very comfortable by any other stands by taking their money

Some highlights (apologies for any transcription mistakes):
It is a legitimizing of these [election denial] movements...and using it not for personal gain...but using it for electoral purposes...and this goes right back to the beginning of the 2020 cycle. A lot of people are not understanding how much is going on at very low levels to make sure this is repeated throughout the country...these people are not just clowns, grifters or internet trolls...people are drawn to "let's blow up democracy to own the libs".

fuck that 'own the libs' shit. those people are drawn to fascism because they feel their power is slipping away under democracy, whereas under fascism they can unleash state-sponsored violence to put them back in control.

most people don't read "own the libs" literally, as in "enslave the libs", but if you translate the language that says they only intend to use the amount of violent force required to ensure that they resume entire control over society, that's the import of it.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Monday, 10 October 2022 17:45 (one year ago) link
the "own the libs" thing feels like a relic from a time in which cw dictated conservatism's fast-coming demographic decline into permanent minority--where there was nothing left to do but troll. This current moment is more like "Oh hey, if we just do this, this and this we can still control everything forever."
― “uhh”—like, this is an insane oatmeal raisin cookie “uhh” (President Keyes), Monday, 10 October 2022 17:51 (one year ago) link
um, can't both things can be true?
The "obtain power and use it" strategy is definitely the MO for conservative power brokers, donors, elected officials.
However, I can confidently assure you that the base red-hat voters are still very much stuck on "own the libs" as consisting mainly of tribal signaling.
If you think that this is all about entrenching power, yes that's true. But it's also true that their path to power runs through the votes and actions of ppl wo love trollerific culture-war bullshit like bathroom bills, 1607, CRT, pronouns, Little Mermaid, Comet Ping-Pong pizza, Hunter's laptop, etc.
The MAGAnauts and Qbots may be severely deluded. But without those chuckleheads, your sinister backroom operators would be dead in the water.

xp Wildly misspelled post, sorry.
I guess I mean it's really tempting to dismiss lib-owning as a motivation. I just think that the power grab wouldn't (and couldn't) exist without a whole host of Confederate flag-waving "Let's Go Brandon" coal-roller types who haven't thought everything through. They aren't playing the long game.
They just hate liberals and want to piss off liberals, and that is their entire motivation. They exist and they fuel the "obtain power and use it" machine.
So ignore "own the libs" at your peril, I guess.
