bandmanrill leaning a bit more towards conventional drill which prob makes sense in terms of his career longevity... but there's enough jersey club in this new one to keep me really intrigued, just feels way fresher compared to the rest of the scene

enjoyed billy woods - church! can't quite place it. feels like it thrives on emotional & artistic ambiguity, sort of thing that rewards lots of listens, while keeping itself varied & vivid enough to sustain a sort of narrative. anyway I guess I'd better hear his other 2022 album tomorrow

i think you'll like his aethiopes album, it's arcane and abrasive even by woods standards. it's not my favorite style of his tbh (similar in its abstractness to armand hammer's paraffin), but there's good stuff. gonna check out church this week

anyway, gonna do a dump of things i've been digging lately, but i need to mention "jiggy in jersey 2," which is just so good lol. weirdly, it's the second drill-adjacent song to sample "around the world (la la la la)" that i've heard this year. i feel thoroughly owned to be older than 30, let alone pushing 30!
