yeah but he's got that tantalizing young big man thing that teams find irresistible. they surely could have kept their cards closer to their chest and traded him for some good stuff. now they've telegraphed to the world that they don't think he's worthy of being part of their core
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:52 (one year ago) link
whatever one thinks of ayton it's just really hard for me to believe that the suns know what they're doing
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:52 (one year ago) link
looking more and more like that's the case sadly. RIP suns, your vibes were exquisite
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:53 (one year ago) link
must be a Ben Simmons type situation brewing here because during last year's Finals I thought it was no doubt he was worth the max
― frogbs, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:00 (one year ago) link
the suns front office is not to be trusted but the fact that they’ve gotten an up close view at him and are like “yeah we’re good” would definitely concern me. he did pose for a whole story about how he sleeps 2 hours per night so he can get higher scores on 2K so there might be something there…
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:05 (one year ago) link
i think he got overrated in the playoffs last year… he played well against a bunch of injured teams two of whom didn’t have real big men and then he got sonned by giannis and was not a factor in the mavs series this year. i think there’s a bunch of teams who could defensibly max him but it’s also totally reasonable to say the suns could trade him and change their roster and get better
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:08 (one year ago) link
oh cmon there's some stiff competition there. but this is a unique situation in that it seems like the Suns themselves are the ones revealing to everyone else that he's fools gold
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:14 (one year ago) link
there's definitely something there with the offcourt stuff and he was definitely overrated after last years playoffs. but i guess my approach would be to try to work with him rather than make it clear to the entire league that i was done with him? he doesn't get hurt, he's good at a lot of different things, and he's statistically productive. i'm not sure i see the sign and trade that makes them better and i don't really have confidence that their front office will go out and find it. are his flaws really so fatal that the right position is to move on from him no matter what? i'm not sure i see that.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:17 (one year ago) link
Rumors that book and the coach hate him so if that’s true then idk what they can do
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:26 (one year ago) link
yeah that's weird....usually when a player is hated that's evinced somehow in his play on the court? i don't recall ayton being a disaster out there.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:30 (one year ago) link
He was in the Dallas series. And kinda just ho hum all playoffs.
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:44 (one year ago) link
Ayton is one of the weirder talents I can remember. Like there’s just something missing.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 23 June 2022 04:07 (one year ago) link
i don't think moving on from ayton no matter what is the suns choice. they might be happy to keep him for the right $. but ayton is telling them it is max or nothing so a sign and trade is their best option. i wouldnt want to be the team that maxes ayton.
sure they could have drafted someone else (cant think if who) but that ship has sailed
― micah, Thursday, 23 June 2022 05:07 (one year ago) link
wonder what theyre going to do when detroit maxs out ayton

lotta chatter that houston is trying to move up to no 1 to grab paolo bc okc might take him instead of chet. i feel like presti is the best at getting teams nervous.

feels weird to see all this chatter about betting markets for something that is just an organization's choice. i'm sure betting on the draft has happened in the past, but i don't remember seeing much about it in previous years.

― Heez, Thursday, 23 June 2022 13:29 (one year ago) link
it will probably cost you okongwu and multiple draft picks as well, including this year's #16, you still want to?
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Thursday, 23 June 2022 13:33 (one year ago) link
no
― Heez, Thursday, 23 June 2022 13:40 (one year ago) link
you cannot have Okongwu that's ridiculous. you can have the 16 tho

spurs are not going to trade dejounte for anything short of a godfather offer
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Thursday, 23 June 2022 13:42 (one year ago) link
i'm sure. and we'll end up trading for fucking harrison barnes

As team boards finalize today, the 1-2-3 of the NBA Draft is increasingly firm, per sources: Jabari Smith to Orlando, Chet Holmgren to Oklahoma City and Paolo Banchero to Houston.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 23, 2022

ESPN Sources: If Kyrie Irving can’t reach an agreement to stay with Brooklyn, he has a list of teams he’d like them to consider on sign-and-trades, including Lakers, Clippers, Knicks, Heat, Mavs and 76ers. None of those teams have cap space to sign him without Nets’ help.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 23, 2022
Sources: Kevin Durant is monitoring the Brooklyn Nets’ situation and considering options with his future. This now opens the path for Kyrie Irving to proceed on finding a new home via opt-in and trade.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 23, 2022
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 23 June 2022 20:19 (one year ago) link
seems like a bluff no? best move for both is to stay and they are just trying to ensure the nets pay kyrie?
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 20:22 (one year ago) link
but i guess we never know w these two weirdos
the kyrie stuff seems legit to me, the relationship there just doesn’t seem right. you have kyrie saying he and KD need to be co-managing the franchise along with the GM and owner but you have the GM refusing to commit to kyrie publicly and saying they need players who care about the gameand then if you’re KD and your team is you, ben simmons and a bunch of role players do you really think you’re getting past boston, milwaukee, miami etc? why not look at forcing your way out
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 23 June 2022 20:28 (one year ago) link
kyrie's a fucking psycho but also if he leaves the nets aren't going anywhere, so obviously KD has to explore options
― mookieproof, Thursday, 23 June 2022 20:31 (one year ago) link
not sure i'd be surprised if kyrie's just out of the league in 2-3 years, on the lecture circuit, maybe being a casual internet psycho
