Short one.

bit of deja vu there. not that it helped my numbers

koogs, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 17:08 (one year ago) link

shit. mod request sent.

koogs, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 17:11 (one year ago) link

my results: 140 guesses, 10% accuracy, had to cheat with the very limited words i even managed to get. i was getting NOTHING from this one. ended up searching "passes through one of", lol. just so few words to work with! i usually guess light at some point though and didn't this time so it's on me

Kompakt Total Landscaping (Will M.), Wednesday, 22 June 2022 17:46 (one year ago) link

94, 12% - got lucky with light, then only got focus because the only optics related things I could think of were eyeglasses and camera lenses

astounding. 9 for me.

i'd've bet money on this

koogs, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 20:26 (one year ago) link

Good work! 29 for me, my first guess was "physics" and that got 0 so I wandered around for a while

Had to cheat even though I had both "food" and "borne" by 132.

Antifa Lockhart (Leee), Thursday, 23 June 2022 16:51 (one year ago) link

Again I am sure I know what it is but I don't know what it's called

Got today's in 8. That strange unredacted <500 colony thing tipped me off that we were talking about bacteria or reproduction or contamination and I was lucky that my fifth guess was the second word.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 23 June 2022 18:13 (one year ago) link

92 and counting. having trouble getting it over the line.

koogs, Thursday, 23 June 2022 19:31 (one year ago) link

I had disease in 13, food in ... 165. Gave up 20 guesses later. I've lost my mojo, third > 100 in four games.

dear confusion the catastrophe waitress (ledge), Thursday, 23 June 2022 19:51 (one year ago) link

almost cheated but tried a few more and got it in 147! somehow didn't use one of my usual early guesses -- food -- until 40. not that it helped me close, lol. seeing what looked like the fda sorta sent me in the right direction, but i focused too much on the enforcement of safety stuff and less on what people might be enforcing it for

Kompakt Total Landscaping (Will M.), Thursday, 23 June 2022 20:35 (one year ago) link

I was close to this one early and it still took me something like 140 guesses just bc I couldn't figure out exactly what the first word was

koogs, Thursday, 23 June 2022 20:47 (one year ago) link

got it in 32, not 100% convinced that foodborne really is a word but there we are

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Thursday, 23 June 2022 21:42 (one year ago) link

hit it in 74, had "disease" around 20 but just kept mostly striking out on medical terminology while trying to narrow it down until "food" blew things open

Clay, Thursday, 23 June 2022 23:24 (one year ago) link

gave up. i'm not sure that's a phrase anybody has ever used

dear confusion the catastrophe waitress (ledge), Friday, 24 June 2022 17:08 (one year ago) link

knowing that it's possible in 1 makes just taking random guesses all the harder

one of four things, but what things? the ??? in the list is making it difficult. not quarks, not card suits, not months, not seasons, not little women...

koogs, Friday, 24 June 2022 19:53 (one year ago) link

12, one of my lower totals. To be honest I never even try to get it in the lowest number of guesses, I just give the text a quick glance and start guessing and see where it takes me.

#79 in 12 @ 75%

knew it was states of something but went too specific, figuring the three letter state was ice and the something was water so started with steam for 0 which threw me

I had no idea at all what was going on until 86 in...now I'm racking my brain for words that might fit

I solved today's Redactle (#80) in 622 guesses with an accuracy of 61.25%. my first guess was “law”, and that was the track I stayed on mentally, even when I got to “religious” at some point. got the “conservative” part pretty soon thereafter, but never thought to try beyond Christianity, even though Christianity-related words scored suspiciously low. only after I tried “Judeo” (0 hits!) and then “Jewish” I had my epiphany

bit of an annoying code issue, long suspected, today confirmed: not all apostrophes are the same to Redactle. it accepts (') but not (’): iow it would accept “Martha's [Vineyard]”, but not “Martha’s [Vineyard]”.
unfortunately, on my iPhone at least, the apostrophe is entered as (’) in Redactle, so I have to c+p the (') version.

got there in my own sweet time again: 386 guesses /39.90%. not exactly proud of this one though, should have gotten there a lot sooner

#82 in 13 guesses, 61.54%. Can't be unhappy with that, though I shouldn't have persisted in guessing axe and saw after tool and weapon already turned up blank.

Michael Jones, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 18:14 (one year ago) link

lmfao, got #83 in 91 / 21.98%
i unlocked "fast" and "food" early and just kept guessing dumb shit because i could not come up with anything where XXXXX and XXX were opposites (4th paragraph) until about 10 mins later, at this point i said out loud at my computer "oh my god" and typed the correct answer
