yeah thats the thing, on paper and skill/fit wise it makes sense kyrie/kd/ben but then you look at the personalities..

Spottie, Monday, 20 June 2022 17:47 (one year ago) link

also kyrie just never plays, has terrible vibes, and talks about managing the team after just not showing up to work because er didnt feel like it for the entire three years hes been with them

lag∞n, Monday, 20 June 2022 17:50 (one year ago) link

kd to the celtics so they can beat the warriors lol

Feels like lots of crazy stuff is spring loaded this week

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 20 June 2022 18:49 (one year ago) link

As well it ought to be. Crazy trades make the offseason way more interesting.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Monday, 20 June 2022 18:52 (one year ago) link

Miami’s PJ Tucker will opt out of his $7.4 million player option for the 2022-23 season and enter free agency, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Several championship contending teams are expected to compete for Tucker, who was a key part of Milwaukee’s title run in 2021.

Come back to Milwaukee my man

frogbs, Monday, 20 June 2022 22:55 (one year ago) link

yeah but if you have kevin durant on your team basketball should be a rigged game. you shouldn’t be losing to the house.

Perhaps it's time to acknowledge Durant is not the dynasty creating superstar on his own and requires an environment and leadership culture he can't cultivate on his own to win.

octobeard, Monday, 20 June 2022 23:05 (one year ago) link

The Hornets are looking to trade one of their two first-round picks alongside Gordon Hayward to clear cap space for retaining Miles Bridges, per @WindhorstESPN.

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 01:36 (one year ago) link

i would do that deal if i was a number of teams. hayward was good last year he just got hurt again

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2022 01:49 (one year ago) link

man I would very much simply hate to be the hornets

k3vin k., Wednesday, 22 June 2022 01:50 (one year ago) link

Yah it ain’t pretty.

Spottie, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 01:54 (one year ago) link

actually nailing/developing a mid lottery pick but then having to attach a first to your obviously horrible free agent signing simply so that you can dump his salary and give the one good pick you've made his second contract... ladies and gentleman, michael jordan

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2022 01:58 (one year ago) link

it just sucks. they're not a serious franchise at all and good players are going to languish there until something changes.

Matt Armstrong wrote this on thread NBA 2020-21 reg season 1st half thread on board I Love Hoops on Jan 12, 2021

Remember when people thought the hornets signing Hayward was a huge blunder

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2022 02:07 (one year ago) link

I don't understand the "cap space for retaining Bridges" claim though, can't you still go beyond the cap to re-sign your own guys?

Piven After Midnight (The Yellow Kid), Wednesday, 22 June 2022 02:21 (one year ago) link

they prob just dont want to pay the tax

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 02:22 (one year ago) link

Source: Wizards star Bradley Beal will decline his $36.4 million player option for the 2022-23 season and become an unrestricted free agent this summer, @hoopshype has learned. More on Beal’s future, Bobby Portis, Nicolas Batum, and others in the story. https://t.co/sT8KU2qBUr

xp yes, that is 100% management-side reporting claiming they need to move hayward to pay bridges, which they don't need to do at all.

selling off picks and players to sign a 37 year old to a 3 year contract…

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2022 06:06 (one year ago) link

Woj on ESPN’s mock draft just now:

If you’re a GM who hasn’t gotten an offer from the Sixers involving pick No. 23 and Matisse Thybulle, “You probably have had your phone shut off”

— Kyle Neubeck (@KyleNeubeck) June 22, 2022

not sure thybulle is helping matters for the sixers here

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2022 06:08 (one year ago) link

Four months ago he could have included Thybulle instead of Curry in the Harden deal, but no . . .

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 22, 2022

wonder if there's some under the table deal here cuz one would think he could get at least 10

frogbs, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 20:26 (one year ago) link

he is one of giannis' buddies so i would suspect they have something lined up for him after this contract

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 20:29 (one year ago) link

The Sixers are attempting to trade Tobias Harris but finding no team willing to take on his contract, per @PompeyOnSixers.

— Evan Sidery (@esidery) June 22, 2022

that’s a shame

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 22 June 2022 20:36 (one year ago) link

this seems like the route for connaughton

One possibility to explain Connaughton -- he and Bucks eligible to sign an extension next month starting as high as ~$12M a year and going as long as 4 years; so the opt-in could be part of a bigger play here.

TRADES

Detroit has traded Jerami Grant to Portland for 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee, sources tell ESPN.

solid trade

brimstead, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 22:28 (one year ago) link

great to get him for a bad first, i guess we’ll see what the contract is

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 22:50 (one year ago) link

thinking a little more about this deal and i realized it closes the circle on the cj trade to new orleans with that bucks pick heading out, so ultimately that deal shakes out to CJ and larry nance jr for jerami grant and josh hart which is a much better deal!

ciderpress, Thursday, 23 June 2022 01:04 (one year ago) link

The Suns don’t view Deandre Ayton as a max-level player and are very motivated to find a sign-and-trade, per @wojespn.

— Evan Sidery (@esidery) June 23, 2022

They better get something good or that pick goes down as one of the all time worst

Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:44 (one year ago) link

oh cmon there's some stiff competition there. but this is a unique situation in that it seems like the Suns themselves are the ones revealing to everyone else that he's fools gold
