1! It was the only interdisciplinary branch of computer science and engineering I could think of and there were an awful lot of five-letter words kicking off sections further down.

I've never managed to ace it three days in a row, so tomorrow will be a slog, I'm sure.

messed around for a while there then went for the three letter acronym guessed e thinking bce which was wrong but did give me ????-e. couldn't be wall-e, right? it was. and the tla turned out to be r.u.r...

koogs, Sunday, 19 June 2022 17:49 (one year ago) link

mike, it was the only interdisciplinary branch of computer science and engineering I could think of  - how on earth did you figure out those words though?!

11 for me, also via wall-e via e, after being at a loss when film, novel, book and song all were duds. l almost tried play, don't know if I'd have got r.u.r. if I had.

Ledge, some days I can see those patterns and some days I can’t see anything in the opening paragraph. I think we’ve had that particular 17-letter adjective before?

Michael Jones, Sunday, 19 June 2022 20:02 (one year ago) link

the top paragraph did look very black today, and long black words at that.

koogs, Sunday, 19 June 2022 20:17 (one year ago) link

the mysterious pink text at the bottom remains a mystery.

#74 in 95, 78.95% accuracy, not on my game. It is 5.50am, is my excuse.

Alba, Monday, 20 June 2022 04:51 (one year ago) link

I solved today's Redactle (#74) in 201 guesses with an accuracy of 54.73%.

Had Wall-E at guess #31 but didn't solve it for another 170 guesses

Gave up on today's.

92, cheated. never heard of this guy

donna rouge, Monday, 20 June 2022 17:21 (one year ago) link

186, cheated on the second word.

mike t-diva, Monday, 20 June 2022 17:22 (one year ago) link

I'm stuffed on today's. I know it's a German philosopher and I've got half of it, but I'd need to accidentally find myself in the appropriate section of a large bookshop to solve this.

Michael Jones, Monday, 20 June 2022 17:23 (one year ago) link

81, 33% cheated after going through every 20th century German philosopher I could think

papal hotwife (milo z), Monday, 20 June 2022 18:40 (one year ago) link

151 and i did exactly the same thing as milo z

Kompakt Total Landscaping (Will M.), Monday, 20 June 2022 19:03 (one year ago) link

Yeah, I got that he was a German philosopher called Max something by turn 20 but I can't think of one that fits

Alba, Monday, 20 June 2022 19:11 (one year ago) link

Yup gave up and googled at 34, after deciding I was never going to put in enough German Jewish surnames to get it

Alba, Monday, 20 June 2022 19:15 (one year ago) link

I can't even figure out what two of his three branches of philosophy were, and i studied it.

this bit First period (Jena, Munich, Gottingen and World War I) rendered oddly. had the last two characters as letters

█████ ██████ ██████ ███████ █████████ and █████ ███ ██

there are commas in there not displaying as commas

For a while I was sure I know who it was but couldn't remember their name, now I'm sure it's someone else but I can't remember their name either

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Monday, 20 June 2022 21:53 (one year ago) link

I finally remembered their name, it wasn't them :(

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Monday, 20 June 2022 22:48 (one year ago) link

back to trying random short German first names - It's not Uli or Ulf

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Monday, 20 June 2022 22:50 (one year ago) link

I got the first word but it still gave me nothing, so I gave up...never heard of the guy

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Monday, 20 June 2022 23:11 (one year ago) link

Today's seems to be cut off partway through. I solved it but the article is incomplete.

joni mitchell jarre (anagram), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 16:29 (one year ago) link

yeah I was confused when egg and eggs didn't show up at all, plus really low hit counts on other related terms

rob, Tuesday, 21 June 2022 16:40 (one year ago) link

Yeah, it seems to be an embedded sound file which has broken the article.

I thought it was a geographical feature at first but the range of lengths should have been a pointer to fauna.

Michael Jones, Tuesday, 21 June 2022 16:53 (one year ago) link

#76 Had to cheat again (sigh), 323 / 29.72%. Pretty gross numbers, even for me.

quite terrible thought it was a country / city for ~90% of that

koogs, Tuesday, 21 June 2022 19:26 (one year ago) link

Again I am sure I know what it is but I don't know what it's called (I have the second word but the first may be unknowable)

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 19:49 (one year ago) link

Sean, I had the first word instead. Try some geographical names.

Antifa Lockhart (Leee), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 20:02 (one year ago) link

got it in 50 wasted a lot of time at the beginning because I thought I was looking for a river or a ridge or some other geological feature

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 20:07 (one year ago) link

snap MJ

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 20:07 (one year ago) link

of course the magic word species would have been a lot of help

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 20:30 (one year ago) link

90 something on my phone, terrible hit percentage because yeah no species, no egg, can't remember if I tried avian?

papal hotwife (milo z), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 21:16 (one year ago) link

That's weird, I got 4 hits for species and 5 for subspecies.

Antifa Lockhart (Leee), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 21:30 (one year ago) link

yeah I was saying that I should have tried it earlier

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 21:34 (one year ago) link

lol my reading comprehension is bad today.

Antifa Lockhart (Leee), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 21:45 (one year ago) link

just looked at my phone, species did hit but something else made me think plant or bacteria for a while

Also doing this on the phone instead of a big screen sucks.

papal hotwife (milo z), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 21:51 (one year ago) link

glad I wasn't the only one who spent ages thinking it was a large geographical feature. even when it seemed to protude southwards to north africa. hmm. basin? when the penny finally dropped after 70 guesses i still had to cheat for the first word. also "with an orange breast", fuck off![

shit. mod request sent.

koogs, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 17:11 (one year ago) link

my results: 140 guesses, 10% accuracy, had to cheat with the very limited words i even managed to get. i was getting NOTHING from this one. ended up searching "passes through one of", lol. just so few words to work with! i usually guess light at some point though and didn't this time so it's on me

Kompakt Total Landscaping (Will M.), Wednesday, 22 June 2022 17:46 (one year ago) link

94, 12% - got lucky with light, then only got focus because the only optics related things I could think of were eyeglasses and camera lenses

papal hotwife (milo z), Wednesday, 22 June 2022 19:23 (one year ago) link
