Wow, that's something! If I recall correctly, my grandpa crafted a homemade bass for my uncle (also Michiganders) back in the 50s/60s. I'd like to hope that it was better than that. I'll have to see if I can get my dad to track down a photo for comparison purposes.

I love and forgive this one, but nonetheless it must be noted that the bluegrass banjo player is inexplicably playing what looks like a tenor banjo (four strings) and that the guitarist is one-finger barring the entire sixth fret, and doing so with his finger ON the fret. He also appears to be holding his pick perpendicular to the strings and the tailpiece is apparently so close to the soundhole that his arm is blocking it entirely.

Weird amounts of care taken on strange details, with glaring omissions in others. Like, five-string banjo with four strings and a strap. Six-string guitar with six strings and no strap.
