Los Angeles Azules, Juan Gabriel and Luis Miguel are extremely popular in every age gap in Mexico. Not sure about the first two in Spain, but at least Luis Miguel is pretty well known.
Three of his biggest early hits are also covers of well known English artists:
No culpes a la playa (Jackson 5)Ahora te puedes marchar (Dusty Springfield)Cuando Calienta el Sol (Engelbert Humperdinck)
And he has many classic bolero and mariachi covers as well that most spanish speaking grannies would recognize.

“Sera que no me amas” is the actual title of the “dont blame it on the boogie” cover not “no culpes a la playa” sorry lol

Those Luis Miguel covers are great, Moka!
Paradisio - Bailando
Also, I have a big soft spot for Hijo de la luna by Meccano.

Hijo de La Luna is great. Most Mecano hits would be winners in my book, every Spanish speaker in the 30-60 year age gap knows plenty of their hits by heart.
Hombres G haven’t been mentioned yet and they are also really well known in different generations. I’d pick “el ataque de las chicas cocodrilo” because it’s my favorite one.
Regarding Paradisio: I had never heard the Loona track before! That’s interesting… I’m guessing it was a successful cover in countries where the original wasn’t a hit. The one that was massively popular in Mexico and most of Europe is the Paradisio one.
Let me check the spotify numbers… Paradisio version has 89M streams vs Loona with 16M. On youtube official videos are currently 50M for Paradisio vs 800k for Loona.

That's funny, because *I* had never heard the original before this week!
It looks like Loona was only a hit in the Netherlands and German speaking countries: it reached number 1 in Switzerland and Germany and 3 in Austria.
Paradisio has never been played on Dutch radio in the last few years, Loona a couple of times.

But anyway, Loona's is the better version because of the extra synth line after the chorus.
And they even made a 'Hijo de la luna' cover!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwosbctPjoQ

added everything, at 5 hours and 18 minutes atm. Should be enough for 2 days of after-movie-partying. If anyone wants to make it 6 hours with obscure personal favourites, be my guest.
I'll quit adding after 6 hours of music :-)
Muchas gracias ILXos!
And I'm sure movie buffs will agree we're playing Breaking Away too!
