awww no songs from Double Negative? alas
― octobeard, Friday, 6 May 2022 05:58 (one year ago) link
Uhh look again, octo (though it's not one I would expect)
― Vinnie, Friday, 6 May 2022 08:42 (one year ago) link
This array of songs does contain one of those tracks, indeed.
― StanM, Friday, 6 May 2022 09:22 (one year ago) link
;)Seems like they played the same set yesterday in Amsterdam. What a fucking amazing show. Divide and Dissolve were awesome, too
― willem, Friday, 6 May 2022 09:36 (one year ago) link
Ahhh missed that. Sweet! That was an amazing performance when they played it at Primavera in 2019. Very much looking forward to this show. Perhaps they drop one or two more Double Negative tracks in the encore.
― octobeard, Friday, 6 May 2022 20:09 (one year ago) link
Saw them for the first time. Great concert, great rendition of Hey and others, hearing the album live made me appreciate it anew.
― Nabozo, Saturday, 14 May 2022 09:31 (one year ago) link
hey, I just walked around the perimeter of Rock the Garden and there's a good & close view of the smaller stage from outside. probably gonna walk back for Low at 7:45.
― sloop johnnin' skater (geoffreyess), Saturday, 11 June 2022 22:52 (one year ago) link
oh yeah, this was great. five from Hey What, plus No Comprende, Plastic Cup, Canada ("did you ever think we'd still be up here after all this time, doing a clap-along?"). I was under a tree full of wind chimes, they should record an album with that tree. Low shows tend to contain at least one of the coolest things I've ever heard, this time it was the whole second half of Price You Pay.

wait, was it previously announced that Mimi's been fighting cancer?
― Murgatroid, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:16 (one year ago) link
I had no idea.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:21 (one year ago) link
I don't think they made an official announcement before, but when they did the live shows from home during lockdown she was sometimes absent from those, so I think people knew something was wrong.

i believe she mentioned it in a radio interview earlier this year - don’t have a source handy but i think it’s linked upthread somewhere

yes, in this post on January 20th:
Low: Classic or classic?
― StanM, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:32 (one year ago) link
Whenever she was gone, or Alan was doing something else, I just figured she was doing family stuff.

:( unfortunately advanced ovarian cancer doesn't have great long-term prognosis. hope she can beat the odds.

Upsetting news. Best wishes to them.

absolutely dreadful news, best of luck to them, hopefully mimi will successfully recover

It's been some years for me since I saw them last and while I had hoped to see the Double Negative tour that wasn't an option due to some surgery I had around that time. That's small potatoes to this and now my selfish wish to see them again is because I just want her to make it through this.
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 August 2022 22:19 (one year ago) link
Have to say I got a little choked up listening to “Don’t Walk Away” tonight— something about it radiates the ‘despite everything i love you more than anything’ vibe that happens with your person. I really hope Mimi is in good hands and has a full recovery.

Very sorry, y’all. Mim is in a pretty fragile state and it’s just not possible to perform or travel for now. https://t.co/IWwKn6CKRC— LOW (@lowtheband) September 12, 2022
― global tetrahedron, Monday, 12 September 2022 19:28 (one year ago) link
Aw, that's bad news. Hopefully she's getting the treatment she needs, even if that's what is keeping her from playing.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 12 September 2022 20:14 (one year ago) link
They just cancelled the UK and Europe dates in November. Send your positive thoughts and energies Mimi’s way.

RIP Mimi :(
Friends, it’s hard to put the universe into language and into a short message, but She passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours. Keep her name close and sacred. Share this moment with someone who needs you. Love is indeed the most important thing.— LOW (@lowtheband) November 6, 2022

this is heartbreaking. it's pretty hard to put into words what her voice and presence meant. one of the greatest bands of all time full stop.

So awful, so young. Hard to think of another band that had kept it going with such perfect alchemy, pushing themselves to new heights, for as long as they have been. She was the core ingredient, just angelic in the music so often.

Won’t ever forget when I saw them this past March and they played “2-Step,” and when she came in, it felt like life might be worth living— her voice had that kind of emotional heft and potency.

This is the kind of news that makes me never want to listen to music again. Or only listen to music.
