I always kinda preferred this Kiwi version.

Have always heard that it's not really worth seeking out the rest of their stuff, though - is this true? Bearing in mind I really like it for its Comus-esque rollicking and frolicking, and have heard that they were actually meant to be a metal band...

First album Sacrifice sounds more like Uriah Heep or Deep Purple on the whole, pretty stodgy spooky early 70s rock. I love it! Especially the song "Way To Power". After that they got progressively more boring for about 3 albums then they gave up, although the drummer went on to join Showaddywaddy.

Hey anyone who might be interested:

I have a VERY nice shape copy of the Earmark 180 gram copy of "Sacrifice" the first Black Widow album....I would like to get $20 it...which is pretty reasonable price judging by online prices.

Obv. Earmark does great vinyl, saw orig presses for $200...

anyway if anyone is interested it is one of the records i was gonna ebay.

(btw nothing wrong with it at all, just not my thang, but it is fucking bonkers 70s rock beyond belief. "come to the sabbat" is indicative of the album)

Their first album kind of reminds me of Spirit's first four.

"When My Mind Was Young" is a very sweet little song, in spite of itself.

I met someone with a dog named Astaroth and I had to hold back so hard on not just derailing the conversation into a talk about "Come to the Sabbath," a song this demonic dog owner has probably never even heard.

I just watched the episode of BORIS KARLOFF'S THRILLER entitled 'Dark Legacy' on netflix streaming. Coincidentally, it's chock full of Astaroth.
