i think the one aspect that could really alter their future and how they plan for it is if they think or come to understand that they will be major players in the free agency/star trade market in the post-steph/klay/dray era because of their location, willingness to spend, and recent history of success. can they basically become the junior lakers? i don't think it's out of the question. but if that's the case then you're basically never looking to rebuild, ever, and you go ahead push in w/ this core w/ the belief that once you have an opening on your roster for a new set of stars, those guys will want to come to you. i think the lakers tried to earnestly rebuild post-kobe w/ the lonzo, ingram etc group and decided, prob w/ good reason, that such a thing is for the birds. i could see the warriors ending up in much the same place.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 29 March 2022 19:14 (two years ago) link

they want to be seen that way but its yet to be seen if they can do it, of course.

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 19:20 (two years ago) link

yeah. the clippers w/ balmer & a new arena complicate matters but i think california can support three star driven teams. SF will never be LA but i don't see why the warriors couldn't get in there

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 29 March 2022 19:38 (two years ago) link

The Warriors would have to suck for a long time to struggle for support here.

If free agents don't want to live in SF, that's another story.

https://www.sfgate.com/warriors/article/Warriors-Andre-Iguodala-says-media-to-blame-17036640.php

"This is my second time playing here," Iguodala said after Monday's loss in Memphis. "I think that's just part of how sports and fans have become. They are more into the games with their emotions and feelings and obviously the narrative that can be driven, especially from those that are of wealth that control the media and are in ownership position. They can kinda control the narrative of how it goes out there."

Fun fact:

Kevon Looney is 30th in the NBA in dunks with 81. He is 3 behind LeBron James.

lot of ambiguity, and there was no mention of a bone bruise until today :(

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Tuesday, 12 April 2022 22:04 (two years ago) link

maybe i'm being too literal but i feel like lebron suffered this injury in the exact same way last season and took even more time off and came back for the playoffs and looked awful. so i'm a bit pessimistic about what kind of steph we'll see, but hoping i'm wrong

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 13 April 2022 02:47 (two years ago) link

that was a high ankle sprain, the worst kind you can do. this is something else, its the mid foot area.

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Wednesday, 13 April 2022 03:53 (two years ago) link

Yesterday was the first time they used the term "bone bruise"... that's a 1-2 month injury according to bing.com

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry (foot) is on track to make his return in Game 1 vs. Nuggets on Saturday as long as he clears teamā€™s scrimmage today without issues, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater.

Seems kinds crazy how much everyone is discounting the Warriors' chances in the playoffs. Am I just being a homer, or do we have a decent chance here?

DJI, Thursday, 14 April 2022 23:38 (two years ago) link

its just a lot to figure out on the fly so the skepticism is warranted. currys health (and shot?), drays health, iggys health, where is klay at really, will poole be able to keep doing what hes doing with everyone back and less shots to go around, how do steph/klay/dray look back together (not too worried about this), which wiggins will we see, can looney/dray survive a deep playoff run as our only two defensive bigs. every team has questions of course but these are a lot.

having said that, they do have the highest ceiling of any team in the playoffs imo. they were the best team in the league for the first ~third of the season and that was without klay. plus poole has grown even more.

i just wouldnt be surprised with just about any outcome in these playoffs. i do expect them to beat the nuggets tho.

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Friday, 15 April 2022 00:00 (two years ago) link

they are extremely rickety for the type of run you need to have to go deep in the playoffs. you need 7-8 guys who can play big minutes at a high level every other day.

call all destroyer, Friday, 15 April 2022 01:31 (two years ago) link

cad otm. the warriors were occasionally dazzling during the regular season, but not lately, and they have lots of unanswered questions about what kind of a playoff run they can muster.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Friday, 15 April 2022 01:50 (two years ago) link

Halfway through the 2nd was I think our first glimpse of the Steph/Poole/Klay/Wiggins/Dray lineup. That also happened to be when they pulled ahead and never looked back.
